I tooted this on another account, and I feel it needs to be made into a "don't make me tap the sign" meme. XD
The prevalent "I just wanna get on my PC and get stuff DONE" attitude is really toxic to the process of learning and growing because it reduces complex systems to a pass/fail based on the desire to seek the path of least resistance.
I have contact with a few kids they're all below 24 years old
Te first thing they do, when I teach them something is, ask me not only where the link is, but where the absolute link is so they can just look at a brief summary of the subject
With attitudes like this, they will never be able to learn how to play Bass, how to play trumpet, how to play piano, or even synthesizer; they won't even learn how to do a standard cdefgABC on any instrument
This means that learning how to code is something like magic for them, because they don't even know that the computer works with bits, they don't know that a kilo on a computer is two to the power of 10
For them it's a mystery that the 8 terabyte drive is in fact just 7.3 TB raw format it with a extended four ext4 file system
Simply because they do not bother to even learn how to count on a computer scale
@RL_Dane
Mind you that I'm speaking about children who are quite intelligent, children who are sometimes even gifted, but they're poisoned by systems, which teach them only to pay attention in 10 seconds or less to something, reducing them to the level lower than even a goldfish
DuckDuckGo, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT's web search, Ecosia, and Qwant all stopped working this morning because of Bing API. 😂 And they want Microsoft Copilot deeply integrated with Windows OS. Imagine someone is unable to book emergency medical appointments because Microsoft Copilot is down or you can't withdraw money or transfer funds through netbanking because AI and screenshot services are down. This is a good example of why we must not trust someone like Microsoft for anything serious.
There is a nice #A500#Amiga main board replacement project running which is #OpenSource have a look at it, esp if you are still running you Amiga software on the metal
@RL_Dane@Eggfreckles Lovely!
My last Amiga was an A4000T with the last RTG card produced (Picasso96) and a Cyberstorm CPU accelerator, maxed out in ram
You may like my latest toot ;)
@RL_Dane@Eggfreckles I've just went to your site and it's quite interesting what you've written there
I was lucky enough to go to route of the Casio fx700p the C64 the C128 the Amiga 500 and then the jump to the Amiga 4000T
In my country my friend Andy brought us to Linux because he could not fathom how my small Amiga 500 could run Noise Tracker and smoothly be on a bulletin board system all multitasking while I could pull screens down and show both programs running simultaneously
@RL_Dane I learned code crunching on the Casio FX 700p ;)
What we did was remove all, and I really mean all the spaces between the commands so that we had our full 1,024 steps, 1 kilobyte, to write our software in
The code was typed in from the Casio programming book, which also had shortened commands for the standard long basic commands
The Love for #C64 computers never ceases. #IBM quantum computing Code is running here, which experiment claims the C64 outperforms the IBM #qbit#Quantum computer
How does a computer science graduate get a date with a girl? They try a different algorithm; one less focused on coding, and more focused on charm. Another option is to install a new app from App Store called “Conversation” 😂
@nixCraft one of the first things that you learn when you meditate / do joga, is not to look at whatever people think of you, since it will only stop or delay your vibration on higher levels of energy
