i generally like 's algorithm, but i DETEST how heavily it weighs popularity

one time the AI DJ played some icelandic folk when i was out of the room and now the algorithm believes i like icelandic folk music and dedicates 1/6 of the playlists to icelandic folk music as if i suddenly just stopped listening to raging angry

The #Spotify DJ was touted as something that would help you discover new stuff. It doesn't do that at all. It likes to play the stuff you listened to already ad naseum, whether you "liked" the song or not.

And I get it. Studies show we listen longer when songs we know get played. It's true for celestial radio and streaming.

But I get better enjoyment putting my 900 favorite songs on shuffle than I ever do using the DJ.

Before leaving Reddit I saw that there were many code words at play in seeking and giving advice when it came to seeking body autonomy.

There is much fear of having to deal with the zealots out there whether you are the one seeking or giving help.

There's an air diffuser that puts out a scent that calms cats. There are treats too. Maybe those could help.

I thought it hokum but my wife got them for our overly anxious siamese and they appear to work.

In the 1970s in the USA your kid could not go to public school without proof of being vaccinated. Heck, they even vaccinated kids in the elementary lunch room at a whole grade level when it was time for boosters.

Parents at that time grew up knowing the horror of diseases like polio, measles, whooping cough, etc.

We live in a world now where the most misinformed have an amplified voice, and that voice has caused calamity.

I remember it was a gun like contraption that gave us the vaccine/booster. As kids we pulled up our sleeves afterwards and compared the marks it left. Weeks later most of us boys were jealous of the kids whose vaccine site turned into to a pock mark.

And yep, up until we graduated to middle school all the kids got eye tests. We used our hands to signal which way a tumbling table had its legs facing.

Yep. Even back when vaccination was mandatory there were always hippie communes, and religious kooks who had "a better way." Now it seems that somehow the "influencers" out there made even people who should know better question the science.

I want to yell at them: Hey, know those z-packs and antibiotics you like to get when you get sick? It's the same science.

It's scary that measles is making a resurgence.

I'd urge everyone to check up on their immunity with their vaccinations. For work they tested my measles immunity. The number was too low for me to be protected.

I'm getting the measles vaccine all over again some forty years later in order to be safe. It's three shots given over time. My last shot will happen this summer.

When I was in the E.R. Thursday night the doctor recommended that I suck on some sour hard candy as a way to help with the TMJ.

Apparently it creates more saliva which helps to lubricate the joint in my jaw as well as getting it to move around more which helps it to exercise and become stronger.

I'm eating candy on doctors orders. Seriously. She wrote it into my after visit summary instructions.

Yes. I misspelled Mastodon when choosing a name but I'm sticking with it.

I have a wide array of interests and like to participate in #HashtagGames most nights and #Monsterdon when my schedule permits.

My wife works with a cat rescue group and helps bottle fed kittens who don't have a momma cat get to the point of thriving on their own. You'll often see pictures of them. Plus you'll see pics of our fat siamese, Gomez.
