"Etwas auf den Wahlzettel dazu zu schreiben, macht die Stimme ungültig" ähmm bei dir zu Hause vielleicht, andere Länder haben andere Regeln, schreib doch besser das Land dazu, über das du schreibst.

Es gibt hier Accounts, die komplett auf Bildbeschreibungen verzichten, und ich denke, die würden mit Bildbeschreibungen um einiges häufiger geteilt..
Ohne Bildbeschreibungen können Blinde und Personen mit schlechter Internetverbindung nichts mit dem Bild anfangen und gut für die Reichweite sind Bildbeschreibungen auch.

Es gibt Personen mit Behinderung, die auf das Auto angewiesen sind, es gibt aber auch welche, die wegen einer Behinderung nicht Auto fahren können/dürfen.
Statt am Verbrennermotor festzuhalten, braucht es besser ausgebauten öffentlichen Verkehr und günstigere E-Autos.

No, we don't all hate Germans even if there might be - unfortunately - a prejudice about Germans supposedly being arrogant.
No, we don't all admire Swiss people. And I wasn't even aware that Swiss people are perceived as arrogant here and I have lived in Austria 99% my life.

They might not know much about Germans, Austrians and Swiss people and take your post at face value.

And if people don't get that it's a joke then it's not a good one.

In the end, "Someone criticizes my post so I'll just claim it was a joke" is simply an old, tired and over-used excuse.

I looked up the stats for Austria (population size 9,1 million, so actually comparable to New York City).
Budget for internal security 2024: 4,06 billion EUR (But that's not only the police, it also covers an intelligence agency and the expenses for refugees)

Gentle reminder once again that if you are discussing something specific to your country, city, whatever geography, please include some reference to where you are.

I just read a criticism of the "PM" and had no idea if it was for Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, or some other country with a prime minister. Usually I'll check the person's bio to see if it mentions where they are, but wouldn't your post be more effective if people didn't need to do that?

Valuable lessons were learned, but not the ones that the mother thought would be learned.🤷🏿‍♂️

  • She learned that millions of Black people haven't been "making it all up" about police mistreatment
  • She learned why US Black folk almost never call the police, for any reason
  • Her son learned that his own mom is not safe. Her lack of understanding of US racism makes her dangerous
  • She's probably going to learn that this does not meet the definition of police misconduct

This is very important information for tourists. Next time I visit a country I'm not familiar with I better check how their emergency calls work and what their police is up to.
US police is in the news here but problems in other countries might be flying under my radar...

It's the same in Europe: People might claim we're full and "can't take everyone" yet no one has a problem with western Europeans.
But people will complain about people from eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East, but then turn around and complain that they can't find people for their job openings.

In Schweden erzwingen die Gewerkschaften gerade einen Tarifvertrag bei #Tesla. In Solidarität bringen die Post-Leute keine Post mehr zu Tesla und die Hafenarbeiter entladen die Autos nicht mehr. Und Deutsche so: "Ich weiß nicht, ob ich da Mitglied werden soll. Ich fühl das nicht so richtig..."

Ich find's gut, wenn die Streikkassen gut gefüllt sind, dafür zahl ich ja Gewerkschaftsbeitrag. Und bei den Kollektivvertragsverhandlungen geht's um nichts weniger als die jährliche Gehaltsanpassung.
Und die Kritik an fehlender Umverteilung alleine den Gewerkschaften umzuhängen, als ob alle andere nichts damit zu tun hätten, find ich unfair. Laufen da auch Sachen schief? Sicher. Perfekte Organisationen sind es nicht.

Mit Argumenten wie "Eine auskömmliche Rente ist nur eine Zimperlichkeit und sei nicht so empfindlich!" bringt man Leute gaaanz sicher dazu, einer Gewerkschaft beizutreten. Das klappt sicher!
Ich find Gewerkschaften super und mach öfters Werbung für den Beitritt, aber natürlich dürfen wir Gewerkschaften auch kritisieren.

Grundregel Nr. 1 bei der österreichischen Neutralität:
Wenn die jeweilige Bundesregierung wo mitmachen will, sagt sie: "Das ist mit unserer Neutralität problemlos vereinbar"
Wenn unsere Regierung allerdings wo nicht mitmachen will, heißt es hingegen: "Sorry, das geht nicht. Wir sind neutral."

Das "No true Scotsman"-Argument ist wirklich sehr bequem und es verführt außerdem dazu, die Augen vor dem Problem zu verschließen, während wir doch selbstkritisch sein sollten.

Wie ja auch z.B. manche Linke glauben, dass sie irgendwie immun dagegen wären, rassistisch zu sein, weil das nur Rechte wären. So à la "Eine Frechheit, mir das vorzuwerfen, ich kann gar nicht rassistisch sein, ich bin ja links!"
