Went out to play with the #Sirui 1.33x #anamorphic adapter for mobile phones earlier today, shooting a sunrise at #HadleighCastle in #Essex.

Initially, I wanted to get an anamorphic lens with neutral-coloured flare for my full frame camera, but seeing this makes me just want to stick with the blue flare which most people associate with anamorphic lenses.

So apparently all the old guys who repair and fix saxophones in California are deep in conspiracy theories now. My sax teacher said he called a guy who sells and services saxophones that we both know and he talked his ear off about conspiracies. Same for another dude I know. Worried about who’s going to service my horn in the future if I don’t want to deal with those people

Just out of curiosity, I have a question for peeps who have also been on . Do you find yourself using Mastodon in a very different way than you were using Twitter?

As a creator, I found myself feeling pressurised to create content on Twitter, and posting regularly. But on here, I just enjoy interacting and chatting with people.

Anyone else found that their habits are very different on here than say on Twitter (and maybe now Threads)?

The social network where each journalistic outlet, government agency and institution has its own instance will obviously become the best place for news eventually. Where no third-party can ever decide whether or not we see what gets posted/boosted by the people we follow, and nothing else shows up in our feed either.

It's just taking way too fucking long for them to figure this out and join us here.

@wjmaggos I know what you mean! I don't understand why they don't just create an instance on their own domain.

It would certainly be a way to make sure people know the content is really from them, and they won't be subject to being "censored". And if they really come up with reprehensible content, we know to just block their whole server.

Being in city centre, there was not a hope in hell of me seeing the () with the naked eye. But I could find the Big Dipper with the naked eye, so I simply pointed my camera at the saucepan in the sky and fired off a few shots in the dark. This was one of those shots.

Talking about open and ethical way of using social media (Mastodon) is like talking about sobriety. People are getting angry, or annoyed because of their cognitive dissonance. ”How dare you say I use my Internet the wrong way!”

Someone even said to me on Bluesky that we should get rid of any content warning features, because (and I quote) ”People should just harden themselves against shit”.

@rolle Sadly I have seen many people comment similarly about people should just toughen up and not have content warnings.

I really didn't like those people at all. All the more worrying that some of them were fellow working journalists who seemed to think CW was "censoring" them.

Worrying that they're the people we're meant to trust for our news and yet they're so ignorant / close minded/

dug up some of my and my brother's old Game Boy, GBC, and GBA games

sadly, there's multiple I remember us having that weren't with the rest here, i.e. the Zelda Oracle games, Pokemon Red/Blue and Gold/Silver, and some others

will find the rest sooner or later

Pretty much symbolising how I feel at the moment, this small copper butterfly (Lycaena phlaeas) has reached the end of summer in a pretty bashed-up state 😳

@markmccaughrean Oh I've only used an iPhone SE (1st gen) before as I was in China and couldn't rely on Google services, but I generally prefer Android phones.

Currently using a Sony Xperia PRO-I - I absolutely love the camera on that. And yep, pretty much shoot in RAW only and then dump into Lightroom mobile haha.

Although for some pics, I just need my actual cam, especially if I'm possibly printing.
