I had a good year! I got a 100 Birds project done, which I was able to share here on Masto and made a wonderful calendar and greeting cards from it. So incredibly proud of it! Link below.

Some challenges: Day job taking up more time than I’d like.

2024: Big plans come May. More streaming. More cards. Some self-publishing & local art fairs. Self-made notepads, bookmarks! So excited!

Tonight I’m feeling small as I realize no amount of pleading will lead my family and friends from other platforms to join Mastodon.

I am not the carrot they need. I am not the stick, either.

So it’s with mixed emotions that I cut myself off from Meta and lose contact with so much of my past, so much of my world. It’s humbling to feel so… irrelevant.

But Meta stole my art, my visage, my pics I shared from my heart to make money for themselves, and they want me pay to reach anyone myself.

It's completely evident to me that Boosts are the best way I find artists to follow.

I follow the art hashtag, but I’m not on this platform every moment to see every post, so I rely upon the taste of the people I follow to share what they love.

When art gets boosted, it gets seen. I boost a lot.

There’s nothing wrong with likes. They give the artist much needed validation.

But boosting helps spread their work to others. There’s no algorithm here. Sharing is caring. FYI.

Finished up my last image inspired by the 2023 Folktale Week word prompts for my book: “Found”.

This experience has really helped me shape my adaptation of Little Red. I’m so excited about writing now!

This moment happens when Little Red finds the captured spirit of her dead father, held by the three Fates as leverage against her so she'll follow the path they want.

It’s… complicated. 😜

But SO MUCH FUN to work on!

It's #Folktaleweek, and I wanted to deep dive into it because I love all the resources and wonderful storytelling the week encompasses and encourages.

But my day job as a costume educator is not going to allow that.

So I'm stretching my involvement over the longterm, enjoying the prompts at my own pace, and deep diving into them.

Help. I would like to generate subtitles from my livestream recordings so I can then upload them to MakerTube as an SRT file and users can enable them.

I can't find any that don't cost an arm and a leg (considering my livestreams are 2 hours long, 8 times a month). Most of the ones I can find cost much much more than I can afford. Webcaptioner.com is discontinued.

Does anyone have any resources that won't break my already starving bank account?

Having fun with a little prompt in the awesome art group I belong to. We were supposed to do a blind contour drawing, then riff off the suggested shapes within.

I did a bird perched on a branch in digital watercolor, which ended up feeling like it was lifting off and the side of a mountain at the same time...

What a fun, thrilling, awesome exercise, and completely out of my wheelhouse! Had to share. :)

1--I rediscovered Tuck & Patti tonight. And it felt like coming home.

2--Watched a staged reading of The Laramie Project tonight by young students in my theatre program. And it was both excellent and disturbing, just like it should be.

3--Got some listings ready to go on my Etsy shop that required a lot of product mockups and formatting. But I got quite a few of them set up. I felt like I accomplished something.

Remembering to remember the good feels good. Time for bed.
