Just because I follow you doesn't obligate you to follow me back. If I unfollow you or don't follow you after you follow me, don't feel it means you're not valued.

Look at the sneaky blackberry, who knows very well they aren’t allowed in my yard pretending to be a lilac like I wouldn’t notice. You’re outta here, prick(ly plant). #gardening

Axomamma,
@Axomamma@mastodon.online avatar

@kevbob Nothing for it but to dig up the lilac to get the blackberry out. Anything short of that, you're going to be fucking with that thing for years.

I too had a rule against prickery plants when I had a garden. Love the raspberries/blackberries, hate the prickers.

Also, don't plant catnip if you don't want cats fighting and shitting all over your yard.

If you have Kanopy, the streaming service that ties into participating public libraries, a wonderful snapshot of life in Mexico in 1930/31 is “ ¡Qué viva México!” and I really recommend it. Assembled from footage from Soviet director Sergei Eisenstein…

Sorry I take this back. There’s a dramatic sequence that has an unseen rape of a peasant bride to be at the hands of a privileged upper class man. I’m missing the point of this part.

Axomamma,
@Axomamma@mastodon.online avatar

@kevbob It's part of the snapshot of life. As unpleasant as it is, leaving it out would distort our view of the past as some sort of idyll.

I'd like to thank some phisher for giving me a chuckle and sending a fake invoice for a printer delivery from JC Penney.

I hope they continue this trend and tell me about the iPhone 15 order I have arriving from F. W. Woolworth.

Axomamma,
@Axomamma@mastodon.online avatar

@kevbob I got a parakeet at the Woolworth's that used to be in Boston's Downtown Crossing. His name was Larry, and he lived in my front window, only occasionally dive-bombing the cat.

I was right peeved when that store closed.

@lor I know, right? I was gobsmacked - and still am - by people who jumped ship when Musk bought Twitter and went straight to bsky BECAUSE Jack was involved. I mean - WUT?

It's like amnesia overtook everyone about the problems there were before Musk turned it into an absolute garbage fire.

"MA Adopts Six-Person Juries"

News to me! I'm a legal transcriptionist who works on Massachusetts Superior and District Court matters. I do primarily criminal, so maybe six-person juries are flying on the civil side, but other than District Court - where it's the norm - I've not yet come across a six-person jury in a Superior Court criminal trial.

POV literally every time I begin peeling carrots. On the first swipe they come running. They LOVE carrots.

In fact, many fruits and veggies are superfoods for dogs. A few of their favorites:

Carrots
Dark leafy greens
Watermelon
Pumpkin

@markwyner I cannot cut a tomato without my dog rushing in for her share.

She's my little composter - she loves the cut ends of green beans and asparagus.

Axomamma,

@markwyner Yeah, real cute until you have a container of cherry tomatoes on the counter and the dog won't stop barking until you stop working to fetch her one or two or three.

I am transcribing a murder trial in which the assistant district attorney and the defense attorney appear to have gotten their understanding of trial rules and procedures from watching TV courtroom dramas.

The ADA is laughing so hard when questioning witnesses that she has to pause to take a breathe. There was nothing funny about what she was asking or the answers.

The trial is a shitshow. The defendant will more likely than not get a retrial, despite being absolutely guilty.

Everyone send healing thoughts to Our Lucy. I took her to the vet to get her anal glands expressed and said, "we should talk about removing the wart on her shoulder that she scratched to the point it bleeds." They said, "funny thing, we can do it right now!" She got the instant sleep/instant wake anesthesia. An hour later, she's settled down and is resting. When she can stand without assistance, she'll get a little snack and a painkiller. Poor baby!

Axomamma,
@Axomamma@mastodon.online avatar

@masayuki60 I was delighted! Lucy, not so much.

Because she was under anesthesia, they were able to clear her one impacted gland with less trauma for her, so two birds, one stone! (And a pledge from me to not wait five months between checks.)

Axomamma,
@Axomamma@mastodon.online avatar

@amyfou I am delighted that she is much better today. I've made an appointment for another anal gland check a month after her stitches come out. As she's getting older, they're more of a problem. I have to step up my game!

@kevbob Did they become great friends or no?

My current dog - raised by my previous cat - is afraid of the current cat who she's known since the cat came to us at four weeks old.

Their relationships can be so strange!

Axomamma,
@Axomamma@mastodon.online avatar

@kevbob It's so much fun to watch the generational changes in relationships. The cat that raised my current dog was raised by my previous dogs who in turn were raised by my previous cat. Despite being raised by a cat, current dog has an inexplicable fear of cats. Current cat didn't help when, as a tiny baby, she bit the dog on the regular because the dog wasn't producing milk for her.
