Got reminded of this while reading about ProtonMail. The reason I haven't gotten into proper #piracy is that I don't have a VPN for torrenting, and the reason I don't have a VPN is that I don't #torrent. So it would be nice if I got a good VPN while #degoogling myself.
Will ProtonVPN rat me out to Comcast? I know some VPNs don't hide what you're downloading from your ISP, for reasons I don't fully understand.
I got a letter from my #isp on behalf of some porn company that I was #torrent ing #copyright content. I habe a seedbox for #linux ISOs and whenever I torrent on my PC i use a #vpn and i don't download illegal content. What do I do?
Do #torrent and #webtorrent overlap at all?
Is there a torrent client that can seed both? I've seen a couple of unresolved issues on clients like qbittorrent, but I'm wondering if there's one people use.
Same question, but also for the tracker side, is there tracker software that both clients can talk to?
Is there a standardized way to reference recordings of songs? I feel like there must be an identifier or a set of fields that uniquely identify a piece of music. I know if I sat down to list the fields I would come up with something woefully inaccurate.

Hey Fediverse! I just released #Multiplex, an app to watch torrents together. It provides an experience similar to Apple's SharePlay and Amazon's Prime Video Watch Party, except for any #torrent instead of a specific streaming service. Thanks to #WebRTC, it doesn't require a server to sync playback, and can use a gateway if a viewer can't use BitTorrent. It's written in #Go for #GNOME; check it out on GitHub (https://github.com/pojntfx/multiplex) or install it from Flathub: https://flathub.org/apps/com.pojtinger.felicitas.Multiplex ^^
Imagine if during times of high network traffic, #fediverse instances only needed to send a hash of the content, basically a #torrent file, to the viewer with a maximum of three, random I2P users who have interacted with the content?
Now those I2P users would serve the image to the user and not the instance itself.
This truely democratises fediverse.
The I2P peer-to-peer network is the best fit for this because I2P is designed to move content via #torrenting — Tor is not.
I have 9 minutes to go downloading the 12G #torrent of tonight's #monsterdon, and 5 minutes until it starts. I'll start with the #ogg version until the #mp4 version finishes downloading.
A lot of talk about certain VPNs ending port-forwarding and how this affects torrents, but some are making it seem as though it's impossible to torrent without port-forwarding. Anyone care to offer a clearer and pragmatic picture? (I torrent Linux distro iso files, of course...) #VPN#VPNs#torrents#torrent#torrenting#PortForwarding
I know VERY little about this topic. But it has occurred to me that P2P could vastly reduce the need for insanely sized data centers and, subsequently, the environmental footprint of data.
Yes? If so, why isn't it used more widely? Not a good fit? Practical issues? Commercial interests? Political control?
It has finally happened! The long-awaited major update of Fragments is now available, bringing support for selective downloads / torrent files and much more! 🎉
#Xfinity caps your internet at like 1tb per month, so what I like to do is connect to my neighbors' "xfinitywifi" #hotspot (that they probably don't even know they are providing to everyone for free) and do my #torrenting from there because it doesn't count against my home internet cap! #piracy#pirating#torrent#torrents#protip#comcast
Why is qBittorrent using so much resources, when all it's doing is trying to download a few thing, without actually doing it? Transmission is also really resource hungry. Is there a good torrent client for Linux that isn't?
