Sometimes I hack around with the transparency & blur implementations for #GNOME, create a #GtkWebView2 with a tranparent background enabled, and just am in awe for a minute at what is possible on this platform

@ebassi @panpantepan If GNOME Shell ever gets upstream support for this - from a developer's perspective, it's not just transparency but also things like the blur radius and more. Optimally, this would be background: transparent and backdrop-filter: blur(8px) etc. :)

Added a #cyberpunk mode to #connmapper :) Mostly for fun, but it's really cool how much the web stack can do these days with transform3D and backdrop-filter!

@bragefuglseth Storing settings/files shouldn't be an issue, we have a local data dir for that (I polyfill the XDG env variables etc.). But yeah, for many things that aren't covered by Greenfield/Wayland protocols this would require a lot of polyfilling, libhybris-style - D-Bus could work under proot, but it would ofc be isolated and thus pretty useless :)

@bragefuglseth I also don't know if the DRM would work or if we have to use hardware rendering. Might explore this a bit more in the future, we could probably use the Vulkan GTK backend with something like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/termux/comments/wa6p4g/comment/ii53f0q/

Quick #flathub/#flatpak question regarding AppStream Metadata - what's the correct way to handle screenshots for apps that are inherently multi-window like Multiplex? In the long run I want to embed MPV, but that will be a while out still. I've tried to improve the old screenshots by green-screening the background and using the GNOME shadows, but I still can't pass the "resonable window size", "just the app window" etc. requirements ...

@sonny I know, I use Flatpak as the only distribution mechanism for it, but the Go Adwaita bindings I use (https://github.com/diamondburned/gotk4-adwaita) depend on the nix package for code generation, so I can't actually re-generate the bindings for the new version yet!

@mariusor Yes! I had Sailfish on my trusty Nexus 4 and 7 years ago, and I'm using it as a tertiary OS on my Xperia 10 II :) It's neat, but it being so non-free and non-mainline is a bit of a dealbreaker (I actually paid for the Android app integration though, I'm super nostalgic for the UI)
