Lectio divina is the least spectacular thing ever. It's mostly quietly sitting, reading, and listening.
Sit in a quiet place, and ask God to meet with you. Read a pericope. Wait.
Read it again. Wait.
As you read and as you wait, listen. See if your attention is drawn to an image, a perspective, a theme. Although theme may be too abstract. For me, it's usually something more directly observable.
Read and meditate. Listen expectantly. Allow the scripture to be not an object to be studied for its own sake, but a window through which we look in order to see Christ.
When we make room and listen for his voice, we just may hear him speaking.
This is probably the last major project I'll do before Pesach - it's one of the Sphere of Protection altar cloths, featuring a horse design backing fabric and amber edging.
I have enough of the horse fabric on hand to make one more like this one.
Did you know online petitions are pretty much ignored by your legislators? If you want your voice to be heard, do it the old fashioned way - with a set of 24 Leitzanit postcards. Give your legislators a piece of your mind and at least try and be polite! ;) A whimsical postcard holder is included.
It's been a while since I posted any woodcraft designs, so today I thought I would show another of the big box wood "gift bag" crafts, which are reusable. I will probably need to add one more bit of detailing to the green side.
Big box store items are challenging to work with. I'd love to find a woodworker!
The Mystic's Shop - a set of two coordinating treasure boxes. Mother's Day, anyone?
For this particular set, one of the boxes is slightly larger than the other. Each features a scene from a Judaica shop & a letter Shin w/ swirling beads representing the Ruach HaKodesh.
The blue handled 22" wooden sword has found a new home!
The aqua one is still in stock, and I have 8 more that can be bespoke customized colors & designs, or slowly but surely they will migrate to the read-to-ship page as I have time and inspiration to finish them.
I'm thinking red and purple for the next two designs.
This was my 2nd experiment with embedding old jewelry in the plaster figurine by placing the item in the mold & pouring plaster around it. I would say she was a success, but it took a lot of extra effort.
This poster, which could also be a smaller print, I designed to accompany a manifesting meditation.
I am offering these on a print as we go basis, from a local printer. The graphic and the meditation sheet will ship rolled in a tube. I will also offer a PDF version for download.
One thing that is frequently on people's minds is how to manifest parnasah - a career or income for a living. Judaism has traditional prayers, of course, one of which I have adapted to be egalitarian & included as part of a manifesting ritual set for parnasah.
Choose either the wise owl or the Divine 3D figure, in any color!
The third tall test figurine is an angel - a seraph, to be exact. This is the order of fiery angels that in Jewish myths guard the Garden of Eden & the Throne Room of the Divine.
I free-handed this first sample, for the rest I will make a Mylar template for the wings. I love the decoupage one. But the purple contrasts nicely.
I mentioned earlier that I had blinged up two of the 22" long wooden practice swords I found on clearance. Here is the other one, in aqua & pink. Of course, now that they've been decorated you can't practice with them anymore, lol. But as wall art or a ritual item for your altar they'll do fine.
The way we see the world shapes the way we treat it. If a mountain is a deity, not a pile of ore; if a river is one of the veins of the land, not potential irrigation water; if a forest is a sacred grove, not timber; if other species are biological kin, not resources; or if the planet is our mother, not an opportunity -- then we will treat each other with greater respect. Thus is the challenge, to look at the world from a different perspective. ~David Suzuki
People rag on David Suzuki all the time but he is correct. He was raised in a tiny mountain town not too far from where I live. The land is alive and when you grow up running in the forest, wading in the rivers and lakes, wandering the wild flower meadows, you understand the spirit world is real, alive and part of you.
I saw a set of wooden peg people on a craft website & since I loved those old style "little people" as a child, thought there might be some way to make these for grown-ups, lol.
I hit on two ideas, one was to represent each of the sephirot on the kabbalistic tree of life.
This is the first prototype. I think in the future I will do the 4 worlds, but you can request any color.
I've changed servers due to technical issues and am reposting my introduction, as none of my posts migrated 🙁
Good afternoon everyone! I am new to Mastadon and prefer the tusk to the musk. I am an artist who works primarily in clay and specialize in raku pottery and explore mythology and nature in my work. Some of my other interests include:
The #BahaiFast is going all right so far. For those who didn't know, Baha'is between the ages of 15 and 70 refrain from eating and drinking from sunup to sundown. You're exempt if you're sick, travelling, pregnant, breastfeeding, or menstruating.
Of course, that's the physical side of the fast. The #spiritual—and more important—side of it is detaching ourselves from our desires and abstaining from indulging them, focusing instead on prayer and becoming closer to God. #Bahai#spirituality
