Turns out the whole time that #Loblaws & inheritance billionaire #GalenWeston were raking in record profits by gouging Canadians & #Poilievre was dishonestly blaming Trudeau every time he opened his mouth, his CHIEF POLICY ADVISOR #JenniByrne WAS A LOBLAWS LOBBYIST. #cdnpoli
Pretty sure #JenniByrne is about to become a household name in Canada and not for good reasons. I personally wish you the worst time of your whole life. You've earned it.
They all but took the food right out of our children's mouths. Obviously there now needs to be a forensic accounting of #Loblaws/inherited billionaire #GalenWeston's donations to #Poilievre & the "Conservative" party. That's just for starters
For Canadians looking to take a stand against massive corporate greed. Hurt them where they hurt most: the bottom line. This boycott is for the month of May. It may inconvenience you, but your participation will yield results.
Grocery chain, Loblaw paid it's new CEO, Mr. Per Bank, $22-million during his first six months in the job.
$22 MILLION DOLLAR SALARY
Meanwhile, #Poilievre and the conservative premiers are screaming at Canadians trying to convince us that 3 cents at the gas pump is why we can't afford groceries.
[USA] Walmart Is Still Putting Ebenezer Scrooge to Shame
Infamous for its starvation wages, Walmart just posted staggering first-quarter profits. The surge is a result of its strategic shift toward catering to affluent shoppers while its full-time workers continue to rely on Medicaid and food stamps https://jacobin.com/2024/05/walmart-living-wage-medicaid-snap/
Broadview and Danforth Loblaws is becoming a No Frills - pretty disappointing store most of the time so maybe this freshening up will help? Or maybe it’ll become a housing development a few minutes later.
I can't reasonably boycott #Loblaws entirely because it's a 25-minute walk each way to a grocery store not owned by them (though I will make special trips to Farm Boy for produce now). So I'm glad to see the Reddit boycott acknowledges that there are other measures to take for those of us who can't easily shop around, because the Loblaw Corp has squeezed out every single independent grocer around. (I still miss Boushey's...) #Ottawa
Boxed cereal manufacturers are selling cereal for $3.99 in #loblaws. That's not a sale price, they shrunk the boxes so much, they'll probably last two days. I guess people pushed back against the ridiculous prices and stopped buying the really big, expensive boxes. The #enshittification of #groceries continues. #ottawa#barrhaven#canada
Lots of good price deals on grocery items today, and yet another week of successfully avoiding #Loblaws. Their opportunistic gouging through the height of the pandemic period has really turned me off shoveling more cash into the coffers of Canada's wealthiest family.
