Changing your e-mail from all your many accounts online, away from Google, takes time.

Many of them may want you to confirm the change, and I do not want Google to know my new e-mail address.

I signed up for a free DuckDuckGo email forwarder

https://duckduckgo.com/email

Instructed DuckDuckGo to forward all my e-mail to my new address

I proceeded to forward all my old Gmail e-mails to my DuckDuckGo

https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#settings/fwdandpop

Google only sees my DuckDuckGo 😉

Google has all your saved password right here:

https://passwords.google.com

When de-Googling, it's best to export your passwords, and then delete them all from Google.

You can export your password here

https://passwords.google.com/options

#DeGoogle #Google #Android

Linux_Is_Best,

A word of caution:

You cannot mass delete all your saved passwords with Google. They require you to do so 1 at a time and depending on how many you have, that can be a lengthy process.

Furthermore, Google, has called my behavior "suspicious" twice now, and I had to resign in.

Google really does not want to give up those passwords. 🙄

A word to the wise, disable Google keyboard in Android. It likes to conflict with other keyboards, and its autocorrect isn't that great to begin with.

The unprecedented level of data collection and surveillance we often encounter raises significant concerns about personal privacy. It's a clear reminder of why we need to strive for digital independence and consider #degoogle efforts seriously. We must consider moving away from dominant tech companies like #Amazon, #Apple, and #Facebook that often appear implicated in controversies about data use.

Avinstaller Chrome.

Jeg er ikke imponert, Vipps! 😒

Google announced that starting in June 2024, ad blockers such as uBlock Origin #uBO will be disabled in Chrome 127 and later with the rollout of Manifest V3 (#Mv3).

The new #Chrome manifest will prevent using custom filters and stops on demand updates of blocklist. Only #Google authorized updates to browser extension will be allowed in the future, which mean an automatic win for Google in their battle to stop YouTube #AdBlockers .

#ManifestV3 is deceitful and threatening to your privacy, and now is a good time to switch to #Firefox (@mozilla) and/or #TorBrowser (@torproject) if you haven't done so already!

EFF (@eff) on Google’s Manifest V3:

Chrome Manifest V3 Transition Timeline (2023-11-16)

EDIT for clarification: MV3 in Chrome will still allow some ad blocking extensions, but will severely limit their blocking ability and even restricts pre-set filters to 50 MAX.

There are a number of good reasons to download and store #Youtube videos locally for offline viewing:

  • curating a playlist for kids/family
  • no internet access
  • #adblocker and extensive tracking
  • organizing a clutter-free collection without algorithm-based videos, trends, shorts
  • preservation of videos that could be taken down in the future

For these use cases I highly recommend TubeArchivist - it's like your own Youtube on your NAS.

If you decide to be #degoogle then you need to get a solution for Googlepay, it could be another provider, I have another payment provider on another profile (with play store), otherwise I could be without it. I don’t use Google auto as I already have navigation in my car or Magic Earth.

About YouTube and ad-blockers:

YouTube is owned by Alphabet, aka Google's umbrella corporation. Google in turn was devoured by DoubleClick, the largest advertising company to come out of the 1990s web.

When you use Google, you are feeding the attention monster that is the advertising industry.

We should aim to criminalize behavioural advertising and break up the Google monopoly, not tolerate their shit and work around it by using adblockers.

We need to be supporting alternatives to google with our dollars, as well as doing what we can to #degoogle our lives.. I recently purchased an unlocked One Plus phone and am going to install #LineageOS. I'm a #ProtonMail customer as well. It takes time and some commitment to learning new and different tech, but it's that much more click labor I'm not providing Google.

often blocks my ISP connection on websites that use it, so why would I trust ? This gets zero approval from me. If anything, this service just creates yet another pocket for cache alongside (that majority of websites were brainwashed to use already). If it's what to is, then I suggest avoiding extra hops and using instead.
