Pence is the embodiment of #Christofascism, possibly its modern prototype.
Well, this is one of the most unsettling, borderline terrifying things I've read recently. An evangelical group that has issues with the overreach of government during the pandemic wants to install fundamentalist political candidates and try to oppress us for real (some more than others, of course). And it's all tax free!

Eleven people, how many children deprived of books they need?
Please note, "stated reason" and the actual reason for the bans are two different things.
The Washington Post falls for the #Christofascist framing that this is about "giving parents more power over what books their children have access to", without ever saying which parents are getting this power, and which parents' rights are being infringed upon (let alone the right of children to make up their own damned minds).
This laziness makes the press complicit in the slide to #Christofascism
They succeeded in MOST places for varying amounts of time, ...let's vaguely call it: several generations.
That means they got to make the rules for those times, amplify their cultural values, and erase ones they didn't like, over the course of several generations...
In other words: abusive men got to establish "countries" and make the rules for several generations.
Americans like to pretend that they were / are great white saviors bringing christianity and white culture, instead of admitting their purpose has always been to destroy other cultures and pillage the resources of other peoples via genocide and conquest. That whole "they'll welcome us with open arms" mythology didn't start with the gulf war.
And if they are not so welcome, they resort to violence - which is what christianity is doing right now in America itself as most people reject their bigoted right wing religious nonsense. They always revert to baseline, violence and oppression. That's what white christian culture is built on: conquest - either economic or military, whichever works. The purpose of stripping away the social safety net in America is economic conquest. If that doesn't work, it will be at gunpoint.
They are entirely incapable of respecting other people's rights. They don't believe others even have rights.
