What's the best minimalist #cellphone that can do the following as I'm trying to setup a new personal phone aside from my iPhone just for friends and family to reach me:
Still have an app store to use Uber, Waze, Signal, Matrix, Airline and travel apps, and etc.
Can work in the USA, EU, Africa, and Middle East as I travel for work and family
I’m looking for an Android flip phone. Something that lets me minimize the apps and stuff I use but can still install Matrix, and Signal on. It’s solely for connecting with people.
I’m thinking of the Caterpillar S22 unless someone else has recommendations, but it’s got to be a flip phone. Not a foldable a flip phone. I don’t want to do anything more than call or T9 text and this phone will only have close friends and family in it. #cellphone#android#linux#digitalminimalism
OK, so apparently we shouldn't be putting our iPhones in rice when we've accidentally dropped them in water. Popular Science explains exactly why and what we should be doing instead.
A large number of U.S. mobile phone users are reporting network outages and are unable to make phone calls, according to Downdetector. The BBC has the details:
“In Canada and other developed countries, scores in reading, math and science are on a steady decline,” said Maharaj.“When [scientists] look at what’s contributing to this, the use of phones and digital technology is a significant factor.”
Cris Rowan, a B.C.-based occupational therapist, added that phone use is impacting children's brain development and impacting their focus in class.
“Research is showing that grades are directly related to the number of times you open a text.... Even having that phone on the desk is hugely affecting kids.”
Both experts say cellphones in class are also likely contributing to an ongoing decrease in kid and teen mental health.
Experts also say that cellphones in class have a negative impact by increasing opportunities for cyberbullying.
