New : My won't power on or charge

I originally tooted about this about a month ago. Through a dose of bad luck (combined with shipping times), it's taken a month to get the up and running again.

Post covers:

  • Initial troubleshooting
  • Mainboard replacement

It's actually not too bad to do on these.

How often do you refresh (i.e. change) your laptop, if you have one?

I have a newish, well-used Dell Inspiron 5301, 8GB RAM, pretty sure it has an 11th Gen i5. And a newish larger than stock battery. Brand-new keyboard and trackpad.

I'm hoping to sell it, collection only. I'm located in the East Midlands, UK. It currently has Windows 11 and drivers installed, but I can install any OS you'd like.

Message me if interested.

My does this idiotic thing. I turn it off from within the operating system, then flip the screen onto the keyboard -- and the machine decides, "Hey, he's going somewhere, I need to stop whatever I'm doing [turning itself off] and go into sleep mode! Which consumes battery charge!"

I still get a LOT of comments, from people who don't really want to learn about current ARM offerings, but like to speculate and complain about what ARM PCs can't do.

Before we start getting X Elite hardware, here's what older ARM PCs can do with SIGNIFICANTLY less powerful chips! It's a LOT more than you think...

ARM laptops are cheap / outstanding battery life - Linux is coming to them now in full 💻 :linux:

Acer Aspire One ARM laptop is soon rated close to 100% support via Linux 6.10.

Sure this device is not the latest - but there it is; a truly kicking ARM Snapdragon laptop for Linux!

Bonus: ARM's heritage is in smartphones - it means seamless operation between smartphone / laptop.
