In honour of today's hilarious events, here's the wonderful Rhiannon Giddens performing Elizabeth Cotten's classic "Shake Sugaree".
Both Cotten and Giddens deserve huge places of prominence in the history of American music imo, especially in the rural and Black canon. So if you're not familiar, this is a great chance to acquaint with both.

Robert Johnson was born on this day in 1911 in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. His landmark recordings in 1936 and 1937 display a combination of singing, guitar skills, and songwriting talent that has influenced later generations of musicians. Although his recording career spanned only seven months, he is recognized as a master of the blues, particularly the Delta blues style, and as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.
New release, strictly Rock ‘n Blues I’ve recorded a bunch of tracks over the past several years and thought it would be good to start prioritizing sales at a reasonable price over streaming. There’s a similar album on Apple Music now and soon on Spotify. I’ll see what works best.
