If you own one #jazz record, it's probably "Kind of Blue" (1959). Second time #MilesDavis changed music, this time by putting George Russell's modal music theory up front for an entire album

"Kind of Blue" isn't just the best-selling instrumental jazz record of all time, or the one that's on every top ten list. Even though advances in music usually come across as noise, it's also one of the best for beginners.

The #GratefulDead put out March 2, 1969 on vinyl for #RecordStoreDay. The Alligator this night is a beast. Each night of the 2-27 - 3-02-69 run is a must-have for Deadheads, but 3-02 is my favorite. Except for when it's 2-28.

No. As a researcher and educator, I believe in providing clear, accurate information.

The "evidence" that the election was stolen is made up bullshit. To call it anything else is a disservice.

If someone claims that 2+2=5, I'm not going to try to get them to compromise that it's 4.5.

Ignore the defenders. Suspicion (1941) is inferior Hitchcock. Works through stages of being a romantic comedy, a household drama and a murder thriller, but never makes any of those work.

Made some #AlbumArt for the bonus disc to the #GratefulDead's Wake of the Flood 50th Anniversary deluxe set. Tip 'o the hat to TheBigWoods on Lossless Legs who set me up with scans of the back cover.

The 11-01-73 set is a good 'un - Morning Dew melts into Playing in the Band, which then goes most places you'd want a 1973 Playing to go.

I know he took the image of the skeleton using fountain pens as stilts from a fin-de-siècle artist but I can't find it now. Anybody know who did the original?

Laid out some MAJOR MONEY (a couple of bucks more than you'd pay for a new LP) for an OOP CD of #PatMartino's Consciousness. His cover of #JoniMitchell's "Both Sides Now" hints towards what he'd do on, "We'll Be Together Again". Lots of straight, hard-bop here, but his cover of Kloss & DePaolo's Consciousness lets you know he's been listening to electric Miles Davis.

All around, one of his finest. #Jazz

Got excited to post about Jerry's weird, warbling, steel-drum tone 6-09-1973. Started to hear it in other music. Found out #COVID can cause inner-ear inflammation. I'm lucky I didn't go deaf.

1. #COVID19 hasn't gone anywhere. Please mask up. Please get vaxxed.

2. The #GratefulDead were molten-hot that night, esp. during the He's Gone > Truckin' > Playing sequence. If a genie offered a choice of being dosed out of my mind on 6-09 or the fabled following night, I'd have to think it over.
