@AqiDrago
Oh lord... My son found it when they were hiking with his Kindergarten group. Since TIL about Geocaching I told him we need to bring it back. He said "but the box is also gone". 🤷
Pfff, kids, ruining everything...
(please boost!) - I would like to buy a flat, key-sized, USB-C flash drive. Does anyone know a flash drive manufacturer making USB-C drives with the same form factor as this (pictured) style of Yubikey? #AskFedi#askmastodon
I decided to #DIY it from a SanDisk Dual Drive, by removing the swivel jacket and drilling through the USB Type-A connector. Seems fine in my Orbitkey. #edc
Have any of you used any of the importer scripts designed to import a Twitter archive into DayOne?
I have all my Mastodon and Instagram posts automatically going into DayOne via IFTTT. If I can get my Twitter Archive imported I'll have more or less everything I've posted since 2008 in DayOne.
Any implicit standard on how to contribute #AltText on someone else's media, that apps like #Moshidon load up from replies? Any of the apps that are about to implement similar thing?
@jupiter_rowland The intent of my request doesn't include technologically modifying someone else's post, no-no. What I meant is a form of suggested content: alt-text contributed in replies. When I think about it twice, such system is prone to bad acting, but so far immediate #AltText suggestion and fetching in replies seem to have benefits that outweigh disadvantages.
At least, it's better than to disregard entire posts just because author had no time for descriptions or missed a cue. Plus TIL there is an entire bunch of people that want to help caption things and it's already so integral to fedi that it feels less-than-modern to have no standard of displaying such suggested content in place where you really want it (alt-text right next to image, captionista's name included).
Thank you for the hashtags, though! They look like a step forward that apps can boot from. Again, it's not exactly a feature I'd expect to see in every client, just more specialized/advanced ones.
@jupiter_rowland What I have described is flawed in lieu of common delimiter for several media files in alt-text and definition of such text, so I understand why we might not be quite there yet! It is ultimately better when authors are considerate of captioning.
Can anyone recommend a kid-friendly painting app for iPad? Something like Kid Pix? Kindergarten/elementary age. No ads, no in-app purchases, no commercial characters (ideally).
Looking for suggestions of a friend site or app (not dating...yet) to chat with people with similar interests but would actually let me try to chat with the person instead of hiding the person behind a premium plan. For example, I tried using Bumble BFF, entered my info, had 3 likes from others but it won't show me who they are or to chat with them until I pay a premium plan.
@MattPT I used an app called Patook a few years ago. I don't know what it's like now, but it was strictly about making friends and even warned you if it thought you were starting to flirt.
@MattPT
I was going to suggest Meetup, but it looks like our area has the closest stuff to you, unfortunately. You could try to start your own meetup group maybe...?
@Uselessgeneration@repaircafe Not sure I've even encountered a mention... To me that's either a socket or a bayonet (if I feel fancy), but that may well be something that is only right within my own weird brain :-D
Is there a command-line tool that takes arbitrary UTF-8 text and formats it into 72 characters per line with linebreaks set properly and two spaces after a period? #AskMastodon#AskFedi :BoostOK:
