I never want to get a notification when a poll I voted in ended. That has nothing to do with me so I don't understand why it shows up in my notifs. It feels like spam. Is there a way to disable this?

The reason many people in the US felt better about the economy in the past is they were getting checks from the government. Now they're not.

It really is simple. Stimulus checks. Child tax credit checks. People loved that.

Why is the Washington Post choosing to retell this now except to make him look weakened? Such "news judgment" has consequences.
Biden nearly died of an aneurysm. Risky surgery changed his life. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/05/14/biden-nearly-died-an-aneurysm-risky-surgery-changed-his-life/

Why is WP making #biden weak?

Maybe #washpost likes to bring the polls down?

Speaking of #polls

IMO, the NEGATIVE Biden polls are because they call MAGA and or totally uninformed folks who dont know anything what Biden is doing. They just got that DO NOTHING CONGRESS vibe

IMO, many hang up because they know the election is ONLY DOWN to 3 (or 7 swing) States and if they are in a Swing State, they hang up too, polls are useless

Mastodon should allow uploading and posting images when creating polls so the poll can have a visual representation of what the poll is trying to survey.

Would you rather read the books or watch the TV series of whatever universe comes to mind?

I've debated this with for instance as I am now on the second book which I think is more historically accurate while from what I've seen of the show from clips it seems to be more of a fantasy from what is implemented. I like books because they allow me to picture everything the way I want to from the author's description.

I've been down this road before.

this far out are meaningless. The dead-enders supporting candidates still believe their "protest vote" will push the other candidates to reach out to them and their demands.

But as the election nears and those demands are clearly not being met, they abandon their support for candidates who clearly have no chance of winning.

The fact Biden trails in their poll reveals most of them are frustrated who will return to him.

What's one lesson that you learned from 2016 that you would like young people who are able to vote now but were too young to be engaged in 2016 to know?

ohmu,

@BlackAzizAnansi
Ignore as much as you can.

I got out the vote in the past several elections before 2016. In 2016 I saw polls saying things like it was 98% certain Clinton would win. For the first time in years, I decided not to go help because of that.

That was a mistake.

Polls did actually used to be somewhat meaningful and predictive but that stopped being true sometime before 2016. I missed that change.

"[Polls] have been weaponized, cheapened, commoditized, and mass-produced to tell the American public what to believe . . . rather than reporting on what the American public actually believes.

Why does the media engage in such amoral and deceptive practices? To reinforce their editorial bias and increase sales."
