I had to get groceries today, so I cycled to the supermarket at the top of the hill, just so I could zoom back down with my shopping.
I pretend this is for reasons of efficiency, but really it's because my mental age is still be that of a child 😂 🚴 #Quaxing#ActiveTravel#BikeTooter
random question, as i'm too lazy to research this properly ... but are there any nice bikes out there with the same design as these Eovolt ones (step-through, cargo bit over the backwheel) that are not electric? /cc @pete
@patrick_h_lauke I rode through Preston the other day and see they've made the cycling infrastructure even better. This, in the UK, is mind-blowing! #activetravel
Anyone know what the law is regarding roadsigns on pavements, in England? I asked the workers who put them there and they said it was a legal requirement that they're on the pavement because otherwise motorists would drive into them. Ignoring the ridiculousness of this, treating pedestrians like they don't matter is something I'd like to see change.
In a couple of hours this route will be used to pick up children from school, but it's now blocked for many of them
I cycled home early this morning and the roads were almost empty of motorists.
It makes my commute faster and a much more pleasant ride 😜 #ActiveTravel#BikeTooter#Cycling
I was enjoying my evening commute so much tonight, that I decided to extend it and ride through the park.
I got to ride under this beautiful canopy of trees, which made me smile 😁 #SimplePleasures#ActiveTravel#Cycling#BikeTooter
I feel like I’m on some Facebook groups strictly to troll the anti-15-minute-city crowd and others who view LTNs and Trams as direct attacks on their entire family history for the last 700 years.
I mean, you have to be able to stomach key phrases like “WEF” and “Clowncil” … but it’s a small price to pay sometimes.
Four years ago, we took out a 0% Scottish government loan to buy my wife an #ebike. Despite still not really thinking of herself as a cyclist, it’s now her favourite object. Here she shares why she loves it. 😍 https://youtu.be/uTcUouwlAqk
A friend who lives in north Toronto told me excitedly that there was a new @BikeShareTO station near his building and now he is able to bike to the subway station instead of driving to the station. The potential of bike share as a last-mile #transit solution is real! #BikeTO#ActiveTravel
'Only five per cent of the responses to a petition calling for a review into the Low Traffic Neighbourhood scheme (LTNs) were from Oxford residents, data shows.'
When 40,000 people exit the RDS Arena at the same time, the surrounding roads are closed to traffic. Imagine if we did the same when the 200,000 school kids in Dublin left their schools each day?
There's lots of great things about cycling as a #disabled person. For me: freedom, reduced pain physical activity & car-free independence.
But there are also lots of barriers.
One that I often face on cycle infrastructure is the beg button being close to the road. This means I either have to sacrifice Frida & the bucket to traffic or park further back & dismount. And not all disabled cyclists can dismount easily.
I'm a Research Fellow with the Active Travel Academy at the University of Westminster.
I'm passionate about incIusive active travel & transport justice & my work focuses upon how to support people walk, wheel & cycle more of their local journeys.
I'm a disabled cyclist, having gained my disability when a driver hit me with their car. I now cycle a trike piloted by the love of my life Frida, a fluffy white poodle.
I came here from Twitter, and still have a present there (who knows how long for). As I am still new here, here are a few of the thing I am interested in, and I'm likely to toot about, in no particular order:
