One clear sign of how ignorant and immature the college protesters are is how they all don't seem to want to be held accountable for the crimes they committed.
I wish that our U.S. campuses would at least still assign students to read MLK's Letter from a Birmingham jail, and Thoreau's essay on Civil Disobedience.
I think these protesters have failed the guidelines of: collection of the facts to determine whether injustices exist; negotiation; self-purification; and effective direct action.
... "United" in the literal sense only since exactly the start of the 19th century.
It is good idea, though, to revisit this thought (I love the map below :) ), as there have been so many changes over the past milennia.
"Historian #NormanDavies has counted sixteen different states over the past 2,000 years.[1]"
North Britain Palaeogene Dyke Suite (Arran Tertiary Dyke Swarm) (66 - 23.03 mya) cutting through Auchenhew Mudstone Formation (252.2 - 237 mya). On the horizon, Ailsa Craig - an igneous pluton also dating from the Palaeogene period.
St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art, built in 1993 close to Glasgow Cathedral and on the site of the long-lost Glasgow Castle. Its castle-like exterior is an attractive reminder of the earlier occupant of the site. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/glasgow/stmungomuseum/index.html
The magnificent "pink palace" of Drumlanrig Castle, north of Thornhill in Dumfries & Galloway. It was built between 1675 and 1697 around an earlier castle intended to control routes from the north and north-east into Nithsdale. ‘Bland’ is not good enough. Just being ‘not the Tories’ is not good enough. Especially when your policies are becoming increasingly like the Tories. And you tell us you’re just going to pick up where the Tories left off when you enter government.
The seafront at Brodick on the Isle of Arran, seen from the Ardrossan ferry. Arran is often described as a "Scotland in miniature" and though it's not the largest village, Brodick is the main focus for visitors to the island. Just got off the Falkirk Wheel and it's a great experience on an incredible bit of engineering. We were taken up, piloted along the aqueduct, turned around, and came back the same way. Smooth ride, barely even notice you're being lifted or lowered.
Heading back towards #Greenock through #Glasgow and we've got a sea day tomorrow before we reach the Shetlands.
