Tried out shadow.tech for cloud PC & PCVR gaming while I'm travelling.
It worked reasonably well playing #NMS (No Man's Sky) in #VR, but I wasn't able to multiplayer Age of Mythology across our home LAN network. To first order, this is because the cloud PC isn't on our LAN, but I connected it to our other computer via "tailscale" which should have mimicked them being on the same network. I remain rather baffled as to why that didn't work... 🤔
#EPSC (Europlanet Science Congress) is being held hybrid this year, and has an exciting program that includes a session on using new tools such as #VR in planetary science outreach.
But... it's 50 Euro per abstract submission, with no guarantee of acceptance. That's a fairly big punch when the Japanese yen is super weak.
I'm no fan of Meta/Facebook, but it is a little irritating listening to some of the Quest 3 reviews out there. That injection of a line like "Well, we KNOW the Quest 3 won't be as powerful or as sophisticated as the Apple Vision Pro!"
Sure. I guess. Vision Pro isn't out yet, but I get that tech journalists make more money hyping up Apple.
I just wish there was more categorizing on that point. Where a headset that isn't out yet, and will likely only sell around 100,000 units over 2024, and costs SEVEN TIMES MORE than the Quest 3.
Well, we would expect that headset to be a bit fancier right?
Maybe chilling the VR market to wait for Apple to catch up, is NOT the most responsible advice we could be giving consumers interested in VR?
I bought No Man's Sky (an RPG), Project LUX (anime game with Japanese soundtrack: it's work y'all), The curious tale of stolen pets (cute and 400 yen) and... utterly against my better judgement... the Forest (I have terrible friends).
I'm new to Mastodon, but so far like it a lot. Don't know if it's allowed to add new tags, but I take the risk of being evicted and try this. Sorry if I break the etiquette.
So, what games is everyone playing atm?
The new EA Sports Rally is taking up most of my time, then Kingdom Come: Deliverance seems to be the best RPG ever, X-COM Enemy Within and on VR Alyx is just blowing my mind still. Also some smaller VR games like Beat Saber, Cook Out, Eleven Table Tennis and Creed Rise To Glory for exersice.

Asus Says Goodbye to ZenFone, Sony Acquires Audeze, Google's TERRIBLE AR Plans...
In light of Apple trying to steal the thunder from brands at CES, I feel it's worth reminding folks of the journey we've been on with Vision Pro, and tech journalists unfairly OVER HYPING Apple's AR plans at the expense of the entire AR/VR industry. https://somegadgetguy.com/b/3si
Over a decade of rumors and clickbait, telling people to wait for an Apple headset, and this is what we FINALLY arrive at...
D&D is coming to VR, and there couldn’t be a better studio in charge (www.pcgamesn.com)
Resolution Games, the brilliant studio behind Demeo Battles, is bringing its expertise to a Dungeons & Dragons virtual reality game.
