I'm kinda obsessed with Rogue and roguelike games in general (and weird monsters). I was reading this great article from 2016 about their history that I boosted yesterday (thanks to @WoodooProd for alerting me to it).
As I read and poked around the web to check out these early roguelikes, I loved these two screens from a SUPER early roguelike (Pedit5, from 1975).
Wouldn't it be sweet if every #TTRPG setting and character and system could be used with every setting and character and system in an enormous #RPG#multiverse?
So many systems already have multiverse settings (#GURPS, arguably #BRP, even #DnD if they still have that planar thing going on).
Groups could team up for one-offs in the shared intersection of their usual settings.
The two things that I personally feel have always been terrible about the design of #DnD are the class-based character development system and the Vancian magic system.
These systems irrationally limit the choices players can make in designing and developing their PCs, and TSR/WotC/Hasbro has missed so many opportunities to do away with these systems over the past 50 years.
But, they can be fixed, within the existing framework of #Dnd5E. (more)

My last memory lane posts seem to have resonated well so here’s another. #CallOfCthulhu is up there as one of the games that I’m not very keen on. This comes from a couple of games (both at conventions with well respected Keepers) where the aim has been to scare the player rather than the characters. This put me off for quite a while but after a good game with someone who was running Cthulhu as their first ever GMing attempt I’m tempted to go back to it. #GamesWorkshop#RPG#TTRPG
So I'm making this phantasmagoric fantasy game with my 17-yo design partner Tovey. Working title: The Demon Tree.
One of the design specs, straight from Tovey's vision for play, is that it has to feature exciting, dynamic, fast, tactical, multi-round and multi-participant fight sequences. Fights can't be over in a single roll or two, like in Apocalypse World, and they can't be a static slog of attrition, like in (some) D&D.
