@kurtseifried As fond as my memory of a room full of PS/2s running OS/2 is, I don't miss it using too many resources to be able to run "Jetfighter II", requiring a boot into MS-DOS; speaking of which...
The X-files : Resist or Serve reminds me of Resident Evil but with worse controls I mean getting your character to move or shoot like you want them to is very difficult. Check out my #Twitch stream and please boost this post as I'm a #SmallStreamer
22 years ago #OTD Silent Hill 2 was released. Still one of the most complex, dark, and gripping titles of the survival horror genre. Touching upon themes of trauma, grief, guilt and punishment, and blending them with metaphor and the horror element in a way not many games had done before. Quite possibly the highlight of the entire Silent Hill franchise.
@fringemagnet I enjoyed playing this game such a great soundtrack and the atmosphere of this game was amazing plus it made me cry check out the 1st part of my playthrough of Silent Hill 2 here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VurNDFcrm0w
@catgirlfingies has to be #GodOfWar 2, which incidentally was also my first #PS2 game.
I played a whole bunch of great games on the PS2, but none of them as often as GoW2.
It still looks great, especially if you run it upscaled through an emulator. 😎
Edit: got my God of War mythology messed up. 😅 I wrote in the image descriptions that Kratos was holding the Blades of Olympus. The blade of Olympus is the sword Zeus gives Kratos. The blades are the Blades of Athena.
Dragon Quest VIII. Not just peak #dragonquest , but probably one of my favorite #rpg . It wasn't ashamed of being a turn based RPG like so many series that tried modernizing during that time. It was Dragon Quest, but in 3D, and for the western version, fully orchestrated and voice acted.
It's still a beautiful game, and the cell shading lets it stand the test of time better than many games from the #ps2
oh holy hot damn, the founder of PCSX2 is making their own PS4 emulator now
interested to see how that'll turn out, i know there's already a few other PS4 emulators out there rn, makes me wonder how this will be approached since the PS4 is more PC hardware than the completely alien hardware of the PS2
@EeveeEuphoria not really.
When my local #GameStop closed I got 360s for like €15 per piece, so there's ample of cheap hardware and all versions but the 07/2014 amd later made "Winchester" models of the #Xbox360 are fully moddable with #RGH8 requiring only a @Raspberry_Pi#PiPico and a #Postfix adapter for flashing.
So there is not a lot of motivation compared to i.e. #Gamecube, #Wii & #PS2 that didn't have #HDMI output.
The #aynOdin runs #Android unless I'm mistaken, but the upcoming #aynLoki is going to have a #ryzen chipset so I wonder what OS it will use. It's probably going to be a #SteamOS or some custom #Linux build. Thing is, I mainly want it for #emulation of #retrogames, namely #Wii, and #PS2/PS3. Might be better off getting a #SteamDeck?
New review! 260 - Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus
This week we step into the shoes of Sly in the first outing of the master thief. I have very fond memories of the sequels, but can the original stand the test of time?
I don't use Reddit much. But I can't help but closely follow cool little weird niche subreddits for stuff I love-- mainly the PS2, Wii, Looney Tunes, and Disenchantment ones. 😂
The built-in mouse driver provides wheel support for application aware of CuteMouse extensions; examples include Necromancer’s DOS Navigator and Mpxplay.
The original CuteMouse driver version 2.1 is also able to use the PS/2 mouse wheel, just start it with 'CTMOUSE /o'.
-Serial mice emulation
Numerous serial (COM port) mice are now emulated:
original Microsoft mouse with 2 buttons
Logitech mouse, with 3 buttons
wheel mouse with 3 buttons
Mouse Systems mouse (old mouse type, not compatible with the ones listed above), with 3 buttons
To enable serial mouse, user the SERIAL 1 mouse command (this will attach it to the COM1 port), or edit the [serial] section of the configuration file. By default, DOSBox Staging tries to determine what kind of mouse the game or application expects.
With serial mouse emulation, Windows 1.01 is finally usable!
