@terri Here are some shots from last year's Romi Hill MKAL, #Falderal. It was a blast to knit and I learned so much! Still have to block it, will post when I do. 😊
🧶 It's done! Yarn re-skeined on swift from ball I wound months ago, washed in Eucalan, dried thoroughly (it fluffed up, so nice!), re-wound just now into a ball.
Join me for Romi Hill's #MKAL - "Way Leads On To Way!" Starts this coming Friday, April 26th.
🧶 Two color crescent shawl
🧶 Extremely well planned in all respects
🧶 Lots of #YouTube & #Ravelry posts
🧶 New techniques
🧶 Many participants
🧶 Scaled pattern pricing
🧶 Kits
🧶 Not too hard 😊
I’m looking for fediverse accounts to follow for inspiration in my new leisure interest: #knitting#socks. I’ve made two pairs so far and am looking for help and style variations, as well as tips to improve my technique.
@ellane Here are a whole bunch of hashtags to check out. Not all relevant to socks but all are fiber arts related. Welcome to this wild and woolly world!
Hello #Knitterati ~ FINALLY coming out of a months-long funk involving COVID, RSV, long hospital stays, and ginormous sleep, eg 15 hours a night... Yikes!
The Bramwell Shawl by Dee O'Keefe. Needed something squishy for this yarn, which is heavily threaded with a sparkle thread. It is soft as can be, this yarn - Nashua Handknits Grand Opera. The sparkly stuff is seen but not felt, at all. Discontinued, worth getting!
Holy f*@k - I did a Thing!
I inherited a part ball of variegated yarn - which I dislike using because I feel it's disorganized, chaotic and messy looking. But I've seen this thing done online and decided to spend a day screwing around and tried it. It bloody worked. (Eventually) I'm amazed. A combination of programming and sorcery.
The prompt is #Yarnuary for how we got started in #FiberCraft stuff... I believe we have @njeanneburns to thank for this? Thank you! Well here goes...
I came from the loins of a very not-crafty mother, so much of what I learned in the way of handicrafts was from those little kits they made for kids, and from Girl Scouts. We also had a set of fun books called Child Crafts that my siblings and I used to tap a lot...
Who are you, dear and generous one? A box, your big beautiful box, was delivered to front desk of long term care facility where I'm emprisoned oh-I-mean staying at...
What an incredible joy to receive! Please em me ks@karenstrickholm.com so I can provide proper thanks, and also add you to list to receive a gratitude gift. Thank you soooo much for your kindness and generosity!!🙏🥰🙏
Knitterati, check out this designer, quite inventive colorwork, impressive! And so fresh, I haven't seen this distintive design direction anywhere else. By Linnea Ornstein. Happy browsing!
@westerling I didn't know them. I stopped knitting long ago, just came back to it recently - so much has changed. Am now re-creating a stash. This addiction is real, I tell 'ya!
Highly recommend this follow for all fiber fans. I learn so much from Jesssica McDonald, mostly from posts on her blog page, also her emails. She's a good explainer. You'll find yarn reviews there too. The more you know!
PS: IDK if she's here on Mastodon but if yes, please post link. Thanks!
Check out this lady in Germany who knits... @PinkQueenYarns. She owns a yarn store and all her samples are worked up in pink palettes. She vigorously explores the color, and has a great eye for patterns. A WestKnits test knitter - check out what she did with Shifting Chevrons and #Geogradient! Both on the first search page of her Ravelry project page.
Good evening Knitterati! I'm slogging along through the 40 rows of garter stitch, a bit more than half way through. This Neighborhood Fiber Co. Rustic Fuingering is a delight, and loving how it pairs with Queensland Collection Perth in 102 King's Canyon. Cobvisd be damn3d, knitting will proceed!!
I am recovering from a brain tumor and paralysis, living at longterm care/rehab center (unfortunately, pretty bare-bones sucky) while I learn to walk again.
Part of my recovery is to knit - fine motor skills! But my stash is utterly pathetic, as is my bank account.
If you have a bit of yarn to spare from your stash, could you send me a ball or skein? Thank you greatly for your donation! Address follows. 🙏🧶💞
Re: This toot... for the curious, yes I'd still love donations from your destashing. Have lots of synthetics now + assortment of natural fibers. If anyone feels so inclined, I could use a bit more in various silks, wools (merino, llama, mohair etc.), plant fibers (linen, bamboo, seacell etc.). Each skein is like a paint brush, isn't it?!! Honestly life sucks in the nursing home, and yarn helps!
