I remember when 8-bit computing was current, became obsolete then retro. Same with 16-bit. Seeing the same happening to 32-bit is kind of annoying as it really reminds me how old I'm getting.

I heard Icicle Works “Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream”) in the Goodwill Thrift Store #today. Nice. Good job keeping me in the store longer.
I used to play that cassette SO LOUD when my parents weren’t home.

True story that I'll only say here where there's basically no chance the person involved will see it, but about a year ago I paused to let an "old lady" who was clearly having a bad day go ahead of me. We were going down the same grocery lane. And a moment after she passed by I realized we graduated together. ☠

I remeber that it was simply forbidden for students to get to school with the car in highschool

One of the main reasons: there's simply no space for thousands of cars around a school :amaze:

Most kids came on bike, walking or with the bus and maaaaybe a few got dropped off by their parents but that's because their bike was broken..

Question: what was your favorite song when you were 12?

Why? There was a WSJ article about men reading romance novels, a separate piece that engaged in Gen X erasure, and a conversation at dinner. The conversation caused me to declare that there was a non-zero chance that a friend’s favorite song when he was 12 was “Arthur’s Theme” by Christopher Cross. (Mine’s “Sweet Freedom” by Michael McDonald. It makes me smile and think of summer.) #Music #GenX #Aging

I've been going through old family photos in a recent trek down Nostalgia Lane. So for #Caturday I introduce the first two cats I remember. That's me apparently on my 4th birthday with Sam (gray tabby) and Kiley (ginger tabby).

No idea why I look a bit glum. A friend who saw this suggests maybe I was tired of getting my picture taken that day. I definitely look over something.

Just because I've been going through some childhood photos today, a #FlashBackFriday - the date is on the picture so no hiding that. LOL

Me aged 5 wearing my Dad's army boots touching a basketball. Yeh, I don't know what's happening here either. I do remember playing in his boots though. He had not been in the army for more than a decade when this was taken, no idea why he held onto them or where they are now.

I'm old enough to remember throwing lawn darts (AKA Jarts) at my little brother and having to dodge the return fire while my parents got drunk in lawn chairs, cursing Nixon.

I remember when you could pay to not have your number put in the phone book and it basically meant that no one you didn’t know would bother you, ever. It was only slightly less effective than entering the FBI Witness Protection Program.

I remember back when if you wanted to order a pizza, hire a contractor, or find out if the hardware store had what you needed, you had to use the Yellow Pages to look up the phone number.

if we can agree that a psycho lacks empathy, this means he lacks something. this means he is poor. help the poor. help the psycho. he doesn't understand empathy.

children also don't understand empathy. this is why they torture bugs, and stuff cats down a toilet and such.

we love children yet hate psychos, but they're not so different.

    realcaseyrollins,

@thor We actually did not used to accept that type of behavior from children though, that's a #GenX phenomenon, as I understand it

Robert De Niro, at 79, becomes a father for the 7th time

I don't know what is shocking me the most. That Robert De Niro, at 79, becomes a father for the 7th time, or, he's 79 and I've watched his movies for more than 4 decades and the realization that I'm getting, err am, old. #GenX

We went to Olan Mills every year for our family photo, ate at the mall steakhouses, played around in Spencer's Gifts, etc. It was the only tradition we had.

Our family was nothing like the wall of Olan Mills photos says we were. 😂

Mama would sit all us boys down, get that wooden salad bowl she got as a collection from Burger Chef and give us haircuts before we went.
