I can finally talk about this! UABB is now offering a resource of #BookResumes for #librarians#educators and #parents to use. These ready-made docs provide all the info you need to justify offering having #books in your collection.
This is a partnership between many entities and publishers. Please, spread this around and use this to defend the right to read! See the press release below.
Tomorrow some of your Christian students may be observing the Christian holiday of Yom Saint Valentine Ha’Kadosh, more commonly known as Christian Tu B’Av. It is one of their important religious ‘Feast Days’ that even the least frum observe.
I attended the 2024 Winter School on "Teaching programming to non programmers" in Edinburgh last week and had the great pleasure of listening to Olivia Guest and Samuel Forbes speaking about this great #article they recently coauthored. I think as #educators (and as human beings, really...) we need to think more about this and act on it by making our practice more inclusive for everyone.
#Educators I need ideas for small breaks for a co-ed group of 15 year 12 (last year in high school) students who are otherwise in an intense coding bootcamp for 5 hrs a day (with 45 min lunch break). Do you have ideas for short “blow off steam, clear your mind” games that might work with this group? We are indoors, but can go out into a larger open space to form a circle, etc. All suggestions welcome!
🎉 Today marked the completion of our project at a local school with its dedicated educators! 🏫 While they might not have had the chance to try everything we planned, their overall positive attitude towards digitalization is a big win for us. 🌐 It's crucial for the success of future projects. Embracing tech in education is the way forward! 🚀
How do we transition entire #communities from X to better welcoming place without meeting them on X first? It is a vexing challenge and I sure don't have a good answer.

ICYMI or all this bears repeating: stories of art #teachers, #librarians, & other #educators who have been intimidated, lost jobs due to efforts to #ban#books#censorship and wring curricula free of so-called controversial materials (like Frida Kahlo, Black History Month, rainbows, etc.) Compiled by PENAmerica.

The new U.S. majority isn't just young, tolerant and diverse. They vote. The right hates that, and it hates what it sees when it looks at something like U.S. women's soccer
They hate America AND democracy, and it's devolving toward violence.
Wondering how all this imagining and idea-ing could show up in a classroom? This episode we're chatting with one practitioner about how all of this combines into culture building in his classrom, join us for Building Emerging Consciousness Cultures.

Hello #archival#educators and #practitioners! I’m completely rethinking my Intro to #Archives course. I’m hoping to add a lot more non-Western perspectives and resources, as well as contemporary #research in the field.
What new #articles, #books, and initiatives do you think would be good for intro students to read/ know about?
