Blocking variations.brave.com which is used for A/B testing could potentially break Brave's functionalities. For me did Brave's "forgetful browsing" feature broke which seems to be disabled by default if you block this domain.
So #Kagi is now partnering with #Brave, i.e. the company of Brendan Eich, who has been CEO at Mozilla for eleven days before he had to leave due to massive criticism of his homophobic views. Brave's most well-known product is a browser with its own cryptocurrency, co-designed by Eich.
A feedback post asking Kagi to reconsider has been closed by Kagi's founder Vladimir Prelovac because "Considering company x founder political views is not a factor in [their] evaluation".

I use Mozilla Firefox with uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger, and I have NO ads. -- Anywhere.
You cannot use a chromium based browser and expect no ads. Chromium is designed to defeat ad-blockers. It's why if you install uBlock, not all the options are available. -- It is also why you sometimes still see ads on YouTube or run into the anti-ad message.
Good news! Brave for Android now let's u use your favorite uBlock Origin Blocklists!
Under Settings > Brave Shields & privacy
Can you now add custom filterlists and edit Brave's default selection of the already avaible filterlists. Some of you now that this was possible before too (via brave://adblock) but at this time it had no UI and wasn't a official feature, now you can easily add, remove and customize fiterlists via the the settings.
Any of you using the #Brave#search. What do you think? I just switched yesterday because #DuckDuckGo got a lot worse after Microsoft downmodded Wikipedia in #Bing (probably to make space for their shitty "AI"). So far it seems pretty good in general but very poor for local things here in Sweden.
So, yeah, I'm still on #Windows. And I think I will stay. I unchecked any telemetry that I could. I use #Brave, with extensions. I use #Adguard#VPN I use #Signal with family. I do what I can for #privacy and #security
I must say that Windows as a desktop is full of little things that make life easier. I even like it more than MacOS. Linux is great, but I often felt that GNOME or any other desktop was holding with gaffer tape. No tomatoes please. 🍅😎
Been switching from #Brave browser to @Vivaldi & so far it's been good.
Had to switch the address bar to the bottom on the Android mobile browser to get rid of that stupid redundant tab bar & that's taking some adjustment on my part. But so far I'm liking #Vivaldi on both Android & desktop #Linux. 👍
#BraveBrowser is installing VPNs without users' consent, even if you didn't willingly enable their #VPN service. Just stop using #Brave, it's garbage.
Edit: the services are disabled by default, but they were still installed with very little to no transparency about them towards the user, alongside all the other stuff that's often unwanted from Brave users (Pocket on Firefox is to blame too, lol.)
In terms of recent page indexing & news searches, unfortunately only Google holds the monopoly.
In looking for this news article on Grist that appeared in my news reader ("Most Americans want to electrify their homes — if they can keep their gas stoves"), #Brave search, #DuckDuckGo, and #Bing all failed to pull up the article, but #Google did.
This use case is very common for me, so I would love if a #SearchEngine competed with Google on this. For now, I have to use Google for news searches.
