@philpem@polpo that would also be awesome. It wouldn't be super hard to do a streaming radio station with just similar audio recordings... And those could be made into Hacker Public Radio podcasts too. (I say this now and curse myself for not thinking of this on Wednesday or earlier!)
After 8 and a half years, Google Play is once again raising its app price limit: Developers can now charge up to $1,000 for apps or in-app content, up from $400.
Who will be the first to release a meme app that costs $1,000?
It's made for WordPress but the idea is so dead simple that it can be integrated in almost anything with some work (if nobody else did that work already :D)
Need some help! Okay, I’m running an Ubuntu 22.04 LTS VM via VirtualBox. After I login though, if I don’t do anything for a while, it takes me back to the login prompt. Is there a way to remove/extend the timeout?
Oof so tonight’s gender expression workshop was just like, a symptom of how Kaiser approaches trans voice. I’m not going to sit here and say my voice is perfect, but talking about vocal anatomy and spectrographs and waveforms for the majority of a crash course is absolutely not how I would teach trans voice. And the SLP they brought in was a cis man who can’t really do a female voice. There was only maybe 15 minutes of actual applicable voice work
I really like this article from Rohan D "Every Phone Should Be Able to Run Personal Website". In it, they make the convincing case that phones are perfectly capable of hosting websites and - if we want more people to escape the walled-gardens - this could be a good way to get people back into […]
@Edent@atjn apologies for not replying sooner. Was at a work thing.
I'm no expert on this... But, as I understand;
IPFS is an alternative protocol which puts your data on many devices. You then index a reference to the data you're serving, not the device.
Initially, you serve from your device all the time.
Soon you may pay the network to host some of that traffic for you, perhaps you know you'll be off network a bit, so you want the network to reply if you can't, and so on.
That's how many parking spaces there are in the USA. For every car? About 4 empty spaces... just sitting there, not absorbing the rain, making flooding worse, making cities hotter as they bake in the summer sun.
Our built environment and laws bend over backwards to make driving the only viable transportation option in nearly every imaginable context.
You need to pay for healthcare, but almost never parking.
(Pointing this out makes libertarian heads explode.)
