The guide provides every option available, too. Starting with using their Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), to using a Virtual Machine, and even on "Bare Metal" alongside Windows.
That's right, Microsoft now tells you how to dual-boot Linux. 🤯
Windows 11 keeps trying to install different stuff, notifying you about how great edge is, requires new hardware, and more. Windows 12 is rumored to be cloud only with a subscription?...
It just clicked in my brain. What I haven't been able to articulate about why I'm so anxious about #Windows Recall. I'm sure others have already gotten to where I am.
It's worse than "a system that tracks everything you do" and stores that info in a basic database that could be easily compromised.
It's worse than a nanny surveillance tool for companies to spy on their employees.
It's inescapable.
It doesn't matter if I make a dozen "how to disable recall" tutorials. The second YOUR data shows up on someone ELSE'S screen, it's in THEIR recall database.
It won't matter if you're a master #security expert specialist. You can't account for EVERY other computer you've ever interacted with. If a family member looks up an old email with your personal data in it, your data is now at risk.
If THEIR system is compromised YOUR data is at risk.
I just went from "vague feeling of unease" to "actively writing templates to canvas elected officials, regulators, and attorneys general."
If this happens, will it be a mass exodus to Linux/Mac? Or will people just live with it? The fact that the Steam Deck has shown great promise in playing games on Linux has made me reconsider Windows yet again.
After basically the whole #Microsoft#Azure cloud was hacked (see list of related sources on https://karl-voit.at/cloud/ ), the first follow-up incidents went public caused by missing containment actions:
If you didn't understand until now: basically EVERYTHING at Microsoft got hacked and Microsoft can't (or won't) get rid of the intruders. Everything authenticated by Microsoft is tainted. Even #Windows auth.

Thanks to your initial feedback, these include improvements like:
🗓️ Easier access to Proton Calendar
⏩ Easy migration from #Gmail
🚨 Notification badges
🔠 Improved accessibility and font support
I have been building browsers for 30 years now. First Opera and now Vivaldi. My estimate is that more than 1 billion have used one of my browsers or both. Have you?
So for blind Windows users, what mail client do you use? I'm kinda getting tired of Gmail, having to hear lots of stuff before each message, and having to turn on browse mode and arrow through all that to get to the message, all that. And Thunderbird is messy in 115. I might have to just get used to Outlook.
Today, we're launching the Proton Drive #Windows app for everyone. Automatically backup and sync your files and more. Get it here: https://proton.me/drive/download.
today I've heard for the first time about the #RigelA open-source screen reader project for #Windows written in #RustLang. Unfortunately only Readme has an English version, all other documents and code comments are in chinese, but the project seems very promising. Use Google Translate or another translator if you, like me, don't speak Chinese. https://gitcode.net/mzdk100/rigela
I've been too lazy or just content enough to work with Windows Explorer until now. But I seriously need to look for an alternative. The amount of fuckery that Microsoft has done with this app in Windows 11 is just mind-boggling. None of it needed to happen. One more crash and it's gone! it should be in the next 10 minutes.

I really don't understand how people tolerate #Windows. I booted back into my Windows 11 install tonight, and it was a total shit show.
AMD graphics driver needed to update, but it couldn't because there was a Windows update pending. When that finally finished and I rebooted, the graphics driver update took a solid 15 minutes (I have gigabit internet...)
And then the ads: "Try Xbox Game Pass!" "Turn on your OneDrive backup!"
Meanwhile, the system is running SO SLOW compared to Kubuntu.
So I don't know if Android will ever catch up to iOS. And the constant questions of how to use dictation and Google Assistant talking over TalkBack for others when they use headphones, and all that definitely doesn't help, along with how snappy some people in the blind Android Users community are. Now what was I gonna say? Oh yeah. I don't know if Android will ever catch up to Apple accessibility, but I'm really getting use to using my PC for everything. Emacs is turning out to be more than good enough as a writing environment, with company-mode suggesting words, mostly correctly, way before Apple's word suggestions would have popped up. There's no lag in Internet browsing, I can use Gmail or Outlook for email, yeah I have a good setup here. And with Beeper (which isn't completely accessible), I can text from my computer and read texts in full, including the conversation.
Replaced a single pane, 1978-79 window with a very, very expensive modern equivalent. Why? Heatwaves. Lots of them in the future. Don't know how much it will help... but better than what was there before. #remodeling#windows
"Ohai, this is Windows. You may have noticed that I killed all the long-running jobs that you left going overnight and restarted your computer so that I could inject some AI-flavored bullshit you never asked for into your (*) operating system. You're welcome!!!”
(*) “It's not actually yours, of course. The OS now works for our Marketing Department rather than you. kthxbai.”
What will you do once windows 10 is deprecated and you have to update to windows 11 or 12?
