To celebrate Aplatonic Visibility Day I tried painting a still life with apples.
I like the end result but the painting process was way more stressful then I imagined it to be. I guess round shapes are not as easy as they look. 😄
I like the color scheme though! It's almost exclusively painted with just three colors: A red (cadmium red), a yellow (lemon yellow PY3) and a blue (deep blue PB60).
This is a #watercolor of Bobby Ingram (guitarist Molly Hatchet). A fast nimble player "flrtin with disaster". For some reason, he's also a lawyer. Like any painting I've done, it's a list of mistakes.
Fun with wet in wet. Again I followed the method I learned from mattangelldesigns on Instagram. Today, I used all M. Graham paints and found they gave me really bright colors, wet in wet. Colors: Ultramarine, Quin Rose, Raw Sienna, Burnt Sienna, Soring Green, Paynes Grey. Brushes: hake, rigger. #watercolor#watercolour#art#MastoArt
Bike ride today. Was planning about 30 miles. Did 6. Hot, grumpy. Was gonna pack it in but then remembered I had planned to go see the Yoda statue at Letterman in the Presidio. Then I had some lunch. Then I went to Tunnel Tops and painted. Then Sophia, my new friend, decided she wanted to try watercolor painting too. Best day ever. #BikeTooter#RecumbentTrike#cycling#UrbanSketching#USk#watercolor#drawing#TunnelTopsPark
I realized that I haven’t showed you all of my black hole doodles yet! This is probably the most recent one. I can tell because the shading makes the holes look more convincing, and that took me a lot of practice to figure out how to do that. Can you find the waterbear?
I call this piece… Cosmic Ooze Doodle No. 108 Watercolor, ink, colored pencil on 8” square cotton paper #art#MathArt#BlackHole#surface#watercolor#painting#astronomy#microbes
(1/2) I bought a teeny tiny watercolor palette & filled it with 6 colors (CMYK + one extra color) from which I can create millions of colors! Here’s my palette in hand. You can read more on my latest blog post
