Day 18 of #Repostober where you share old art during the month of October
🎨 Watercolor & ink, by me
An Illustration for the short story "Zero Sum" by the talented J. Daniel Stone. The story + art will be included in his 2024 collection RAGING IN THE DARK.
This summer I painted an eagle for the first time in my life - I really enjoyed playing with watercolor to create an abstracted background and body as well as a more realistic head of the bird.
Ring-Neck pheasant in the snow, watercolor. These birds are so majestic. When I lived in the midwest, I'd see them out sunning themselves when driving on country roads.
I did a couple of #fountainpen and #watercolor sketches today, of my hanging "Krinkle 8 carnosa" hoya plant which was flowering. It has dimpled green leaves and its blooms smell like chocolate covered cherries. 🍫🍒
I like the sketches. This pen with watercolor thing is sweet.
I've always been a 'details person', so I have to be wary of overworking things. I find the biggest challenge is to hold back and just let things breathe. I want to keep things a little loose. #sketchbook@penfount#drawing
Once in a blue moon, I like taking it easy for several days. I leave the workload behind to focus on things that relax me.
This week is not just about Procreate. I feel like painting all day.
I have just finished this. Not sure what I did wrong with the chair, but there is something completely off. Maybe someone can give me pointers to help me improve?
Here's a #watercolor of Paper Lace (band of the 70s, Night Chicago Died). Why I'd bother doing this... something about forms of the spectacle during my adolescence, something about mystification that they became famous, a formal game of technique with a brush. I don't feel free unless I give time to the oddest thing possible. This post lets you know that there is now an object in this world like this. #rnapperArt#unbidden
