That's right, new console, new games to play. Found a Master System at the local gaming store and decided that it deserved a new home. Works perfectly, but now I need to order capacitors to get it recapped and to ensure it stays in proper working order. Hmm this #SEGA#Dreamcast#GDEmu is probably a dud. Bought it 1-2 years ago from AliExpress (so I guess it’s a clone?) and it worked fine. Played a couple of times and worked fine. The SD card was brand new as well (not from AliExpress ;-)). Sometime later started having these stuck at loading issues but could get past it. But currently, it’s not getting further anymore. Bah.
Playing Sonic & Knuckles for the first time, and I get stuck in this place in Mushroom Hill Act 2. There's two blue trampoline mushrooms, a red bumper spring to the left, and a blocked way to the right. I can get up and a bit to the left, but not out. What now? #retrogaming#sega#sonicthehedgehog
I installed an Analogue Mega SG (an FPGA-based aftermarket Sega Genesis/Mega Drive) at work. Mainly to show the younger colleagues what they missed in the 90s. 😁
Now I am looking for nice games playable at lunch break. Meaning: Not to complicated, fast startup, maybe games for two.

:8bit_mario2: Although this book was mostly about Tom Kalinske, who took Sega from the ashes, defeated Nintendo big time, only for Sega's Japanese people to revert it back into ashes, I feel an unexpected respect towards Nintendo now that I know more about them. :1up:

I've heard quite a big of this from someone who was close to Sega of Japan in the 90's and early 2000's, but it's nice to see it in an official capacity.
Since today is the 24th anniversary of the release of the Dreamcast in North America (9/9/99), I'll share my own odd Dreamcast story.
I'll preface it by saying I was 19 in 1999, and wasn't really playing video games, I was moving back up the coast after finishing high school. So I have very little experience with the console.
But three years ago in February, I was driving home and spotted a Dreamcast box on the top of my neighbor's trash. And I thought, oh cool, a Dreamcast box. No way anything is in there. So I grabbed it.
But there WAS a Dreamcast in there. Nearly complete, too - with controllers, manual, even a game (see photo). It looked brand new, really. Missing the cords, but after a friend on Twitter gifted me a cord, it started right up!
Can't imagine why someone would throw it out other than kids leaving home or maybe revenge against a boyfriend or husband or something? Or maybe they just didn't want to sell it or take it to a thrift store? Anyway, their loss, my win. At least I saved it from sitting in a landfill.
I have no games for it (I sold that basketball game), and I don't need em- eventually I plan on putting a GDEMU in it to emulate. I hear it's pretty easy.
I finally made it into the 3rd bonus level in Triple Trouble. But failed miserably as I didn’t find any clocks. Also, I wonder how to get 50 rings before reaching the chaos box in the first Junglira level…? Triple Trouble seems easy on the surface but becomes quite intricate when trying to complete it with all chaos emeralds. #retrogaming#retrocomputing#sega#sonicthehedgehog
Comme cité ci-dessous, je commence mon thread 35 ans de la Megadrive avec Ghouls'n Ghosts et sa cover du tonnerre ! La jap est mieux car on voit mieux le monstre (qui me fascinait, petit). Avec mes soeurs, on avait joué au jeu touuuuute la journée quand on a eu la console, plus qu'à Altered Beast.
Found #SoulHackers2 on a #Steam sale and, even though I've played it on #gamepass and abandoned it, I decided to add it to my collection on PC. I miss Ringo! I'll give it another try one of these days. #Persona5Tactica is also on sale, but I have a bunch of #strategygames to play, and I don't think it's a good idea to play it before I complete #Persona5Royal which is a time investment. #videogames#atlus#Sega
