And we also have another PostDoc position available - this time on transcranial magnetic stimulation as a therapeutic approach in Parkinson's disease.
Application deadline already April 14th!
You will become part of the collaborative "ADAptive and Precise Targeting of cortex-basal ganglia circuits in Parkinson´s Disease” (ADAPT-PD) research alliance. ADAPT-PD is a multidisciplinary project at the @DRCMR in Copenhagen and involves collaboration with Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Co-PI: Andrea Kuehn) and Lund University (Co-PI: Angela Cenci).
How about a PostDoc in beautiful Copenhagen on brain network analysis of diffusion data in developmental neuropsychiatry?
You would be working at the interdisciplinary @DRCMR as part of the Danish High Risk and Resilience Study (VIA) (www.drcmr.dk/via). The VIA study longitudinally follows the largest register-based cohort of children (n=522) in the world born to parents with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder or none of these disorders.
How the brain spoils your appetite: A research team around Rüdiger Klein found the brain circuit that suppresses appetite when feeling nauseous. Special nerve cells are activated during nausea and elicit appetite-inhibiting signals which prevent eating.
Are you a senior PostDoc (>2-3 years post-PhD) and would you like to work on ultra-high field MRI methodology and applications with great colleagues at the world leading interdisciplinary @DRCMR ?
Too sedated from neuro illness to read much at the mo. But started The Children of Hurin by JRR Tolkien. Though skipped opening context/intro. I'm taking it as a story on its own terms, without overbearing Silmarillion-esque trappinggs that I find off-putting. Liking the epic/myth/tragedy combo. #Books#Reading#Bookstodon#Tolkien#MiddleEarth#Silmarillion#Fantasy#Mythology#Tragedy#neuro#Fiction
They Neuro-sama subathon is over :crie:
It was a lot of fun ♥️
Last night at 3am there were two hours left on the timer, I went to sleep and woke up at 12PM, there was still 30 minutes on the timer so I caught the end :ai_yaysuperfast:
🚨 Job Alert: Deadline Extended to Jan 1 🚨

Just picked up by my husband from our local #bookshop, the indie bookshop version of the new #TerryPratchett lost stories book. We will mainly be reading it in #ebook, especially me who needs a gargantuan font due to #neuro#reading problems from brain damage. But we wanted this print copy too. #Books#Bookstodon#Fantasy#ShortStories
I've been wondering if we can make a regular (neuro) sciency movie night series at the department and have come to the sad conclusion that I do not have a long enough list of films that I like :(
So, what are your favorite (neuro) sciency films/documentaries?
It's Day 3 of #SciArtSeptember, and the morning of SF Zine Fest. Since I'm feeling a little nervous, it makes sense that I share one of my Generative Nerve artworks. I first started playing with this pattern in AS3. When I print them on paper, I usually use a light background. But recently, I've been experimenting with ink infused aluminum, and darker backgrounds work great on that.

Brain-computer interfacing #BCI is an incredible field and one I've always been interested in. I can't believe how far it has come in the last 10 years.
I can't imagine the pain of being trapped, silent and aware, for that long. Hopefully this tech helps her find some happiness, and others who can benefit from it as well!
Coming back from a different country where I don’t speak the language I’m contemplating how wonderfully mundane all the conversation around me is. Such a different experience if you don’t understand- can be disorienting even. Remember for visitors here!
Happy to share that the book #iEEG - a guide for #cog#neuro edited by my supervisor Nikolai Axmacher is now published: https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-20910-9
Many great scientists from the field contributed and the result is an extensive collection covering essentially all relevant basic and advanced topics of invasive #Electrophysiology research in humans. Wish this existed when i started m phd, but good its here now anyways
Here is our paper! My #research shows how certain adult neurons resist activity changes.
On a macro level, this could provide a new hypothesis for why adults exhibit resistance to #learning, #anxiety, and #addiction.
A key question is why? It may not only be a negative byproduct of age but could be an evolutionary advantage to resist trauma or external influence after we've found "successful strategies" while younger.
The "resist changes" refers to #neuroplasticity. We found a reduction in long-term depression, or #LTD, in adult mice after high frequency stimulus (HFS) compared to adolescent mice.
These cells are specifically #GABA releasing cells in the ventral tegmental area (#VTA ), where GABA can regulate dopamine release throughout the #brain.
