I'm at an odd place with my personal website. Before Dec. 2023, it was a "professional portfolio" for my compositions. Now that I'm interested in the IndieWeb community, I want to make something more personal. I don't think I want to make two sites, but I do still need a portfolio for my composition work.
I just read @maggie's post on "digital gardens" and I really like that idea. (1/n)
I've asked this before and don't think there was as much up and running at that point, but are there any great existing #PeerTube platforms for hosting #MusicVideos (and related puppet vids) that also give the option to embed privately or "unlisted"?
I currently pay a Vimeo subscription to have no ads and privacy settings on certain playlists, but I'd prefer to put those funds into more recording time and the videos themselves. Any suggestions? 🙃 #FediMusic#Musodon#DIYMusic#Music#Musician
If you’ve never read Steve Alibini’s letter to Nirvana before In Utero, you owe it to yourself to do so to see what goodness in the music industry looks like. Dude honestly just wanted to make great records and nothing else. https://imgur.com/a/p0tKn
Music platform @mirlo is raising funds to keep running! They let listeners buy directly from musicians, with only 7% going to the platform. They're owned by a worker co-op and open-source too
I really appreciate what they're doing, especially with the instability at Bandcamp
🎵 @mirlo is an incredible #PlatformCoop for musicians, and they're running a crowdfunding campaign now! They're incorporating democratic decisionmaking from the start and have created a really slick platform to rival Bandcamp. What I love most is that it's run by musicians and those with deep ties in their local #music scenes. As Spotify tightens the screws on smaller artists, it's time for some more platforms to flourish. #musodon https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mirlo/mirlo?ref=8qnosr
Danke für all the support. You can save 15% on everything on #BandcampFriday today, when you use the discount code "DANKE" at checkout, from today until Monday!
As always, submit your own release or someone else's, it can be by #FediMusicians or not, hosted on #Bandcamp, #Faircamp, #JamCoop, #Mirlo or #SelfHosted, as long as it is by an #IndieArtist (but bonus points for supporting Bandcampers today, as it's the last one for a while).

@axwax I have a recent release! This track is for clarinet, flute, and MIDI keyboard w/ Max/MSP. There are strange woodwind noises and multiphonics, ham radio samples & retro electric piano, among other things, and it sounds glitchy and trippy. It's on a compilation w/ 11 other composers, and that's great to check out as well!

Want to start a solo podcast about making art in general and electronic music production specifically.
I want to talk about the mindset / metacognitive aspects of making art because this stuff doesn't get talked about enough. I also want to talk about what it's been like moving my entire music production setup to Linux, as well as thoughts on various DAWs, synths, etc.
My hope is that posting about this will give me a little pressure to get going. Details forthcoming.
