I found this track among dozens of tracks I made from the early 90s. It doesn't have a name so I can't find the DAW work file easily. This was digitized off a four-track. I used hardware synths but I don't recall which ones. (Is there a way to find out the synth model from sysex dump?)
The question is should I try to recover these lost tracks I made and clean up and record them digitally and release them?
This track was inspired by both Guy Called Gerald's "Blame The Artist" and Yazoo's "I Before E Except After C". Two tracks which always spoke to me as experimental sounds that actually made it onto fairly mainstream(able) releases. Seminal vpop ocal cut ups.
It's easy to make experiments when you are laboring in obscurity, but when you are feeding some pop audience, however niche, it felt particularly brave of them to me to release those tracks.
Setting up a new PC which involves endless install and config of musical s/w ... took a moment to make a small interlude to test things out. Finish later or scrap heap? hmmm 🤔
