"The current plan puts roughly 15 of MACH2’s 25 projects in southeast #Pennsylvania. These include facilities that will produce #hydrogen using steam #methane reformation, nuclear energy, and renewable energy sources such as solar.
Spotlight PA interviews with a dozen stakeholders and a review of feedback from public meetings overwhelmingly show concern, rather than enthusiasm."
There is growing agreement that we need to cut #methane to address #cilmatechange, but to effectively regulate something we need common agreement on the scope of the problem. Our new analyst note shows that currently is not the case with #methane emissions. https://buff.ly/3VbjpRj
Well, that's not something which has been known since the 1800s..... not.
So nice of them to regurgitate old news rather than fix the problem.
I remember the very day back in 1984 when my brother came straight from school and told me about it. AN 11 YEAR OLD TOLD ME. BACK IN 1984. WTF. HUMANS.
Conclusion des scientifiques indépendants du CSNM:
"La #méthanisation des #lisiers comporte le quadruple désavantage de fournir peu de #méthane, de devoir être complémentée par d’autres végétaux ou déchets qui apportent un excès d’ #azote supplémentaire dans les #digestats, donc lors des épandages, d’augmenter les risques de pollution des ressources en eau et de détourner les lisiers de leur fonction d’amendement-engrais." https://www.cnvmch.fr/fiche09-csnm
In a nation where many revere cows, the animals' waste has become an energy resource.
BBC News reports: "Indian cattle produce around three-million tonnes of cow dung a day. ... The government wants more of that dung, and other agriculture waste, to be made into methane."
Because methane is a potent greenhouse gas, the climate is a good reason to replace your gas stove with an induction cooktop. But health risks could be even more motivating. Pollution reaches bedrooms. Asthma and death rates rise. And I bet you don't use your fume hood much.
@glynmoody
Yeah I saw conflicting reports,
but you have to ask why our greens are not out protesting war or all the weapons manufacturers like Raytheon , baring in mind 80 % of America s green house gasses are produced by thier military , the same or similar must apply to all of our countries, and now NATO has increased military spending to 2.5 % of our GDP. What are a few gas flares compared to this? its mostly propagander I m o .https://www.mic.com/impact/the-us-militarys-greenhouse-gas-emissions-are-higher-than-most-countries-18146960
@ApaulD this is fixable. NASA has tech to monitor methane emissions with satellite imagery. We could use it get rid of states self-reporting emissions and entrust monitoring to the UN.
The most surprising revelation from NASA’s Curiosity Mars Rover — that methane is seeping from the surface of Gale Crater — has scientists scratching their heads.
