Conclusion des scientifiques indépendants du CSNM:
"La #méthanisation des #lisiers comporte le quadruple désavantage de fournir peu de #méthane, de devoir être complémentée par d’autres végétaux ou déchets qui apportent un excès d’ #azote supplémentaire dans les #digestats, donc lors des épandages, d’augmenter les risques de pollution des ressources en eau et de détourner les lisiers de leur fonction d’amendement-engrais." https://www.cnvmch.fr/fiche09-csnm
In a nation where many revere cows, the animals' waste has become an energy resource.
BBC News reports: "Indian cattle produce around three-million tonnes of cow dung a day. ... The government wants more of that dung, and other agriculture waste, to be made into methane."
Because methane is a potent greenhouse gas, the climate is a good reason to replace your gas stove with an induction cooktop. But health risks could be even more motivating. Pollution reaches bedrooms. Asthma and death rates rise. And I bet you don't use your fume hood much.
The most surprising revelation from NASA’s Curiosity Mars Rover — that methane is seeping from the surface of Gale Crater — has scientists scratching their heads.
I was chilly this morning so I turned my heat up. Seemed like the first time I ran the heat in a while, so I checked my thermostat app: no usage the past 10 days.
I have methane heat and stove (I'd love to replace the stove, but I'm a renter; instead I'll move when I can afford to). When the gas company tells me I was less efficient than my most efficient neighbors, I'm guessing most of them are rarely home, or don't cook much, or have an electric stove.

Before everyone starts dissing #EVs and celebrating the #BMW's iX5 Hydrogen, believing that #cars are going to run on pure #water tomorrow, remember that the 2 primary methods of producing #hydrogen at scale are steam #methane reformation & autothermal reforming using oxygen and #CO2. From 'blue' (as aforementioned) to 'pink' or 'yellow', all production methods hide under the unicorn #green method, hurling us towards total #climatebreakdown.
@Hypx would it be fair to say you have an agenda 😂 ? While #batteries are problematic for many reasons (extractive industries looking at you), It is absolutely not "the same problem" as pushing for increased production of #methane, the worst greenhouse gas.
"Coal mine methane emitted by Germany could be 28 to 220 times as much as is officially reported."
"methane from Germany’s surface coal mines are clearly visible from satellite data, indicating emissions are significant and need to be addressed. The highest methane concentrations are found over the Hambach and Welzow-Süd mines"
Bloomberg: German coal mines emit much more methane than reported, study says. The nation has committed to helping slash global methane emissions 30% by the end of this decade.
Scientists confirm record highs for 3 most important heat-trapping gases
The global concentration of #CO2, the most important and prevalent of the #GreenhouseGases emitted by human activity, rose to an average of 419 ppm in the atmosphere in 2023 while #methane a powerful if shorter-lasting greenhouse gas, rose to an average of 1922 ppb. Levels of #NitrousOxide, the third most significant human-caused warming emission, climbed slightly to 336 parts per billion.
