Atlantic hitchhikers- this colony of Barnacles is attached to a plastic fishbox that they have been using as a mobile home whilst bobbing around the Atlantic. Judging by their size - they've been out there for quite a while before ending up here.

A group of Limpets a Beadlet Anemone a couple of Periwinkles and some Topshells all crowded together in this wee corner to shelter from the recent stormy weather. Once the sea settles down a bit they'll all move out to look for food.

This pair of tiny golden wings is the shell of a Banded wedge shell (Donax vittatus). These small marine bivalves spend most of their lives beneath the sands. Their empty shells are often found scattered across beaches after stormy winter weather.

A teeny wee baby, Thicklip grey mullet (Chelon labrosus) - although adults are common in Irish inshore waters and estuaries throughout the summer months they are rarely targeted as a food species and fished mainly for sport.

Grey Seal (Halichoerus grypus) pupping season is generally between September and December. Unfortunately not all the young make it to the new year. But it is an opportunity to get a closer look at this one's beautiful rear flippers 😍
