There is a small playground behind the dunes on the north beach. And when I saw the little seal lying there yesterday, I could hardly hold the camera with laughter. It should be this funny going into the new year.
I wish you all a happy new year 2024!
After almost not making it to the island due to the storm, we were blessed with a bright sunny day the day after Christmas.
In my absence, baby seals were eagerly born on the "dune" again. It's not so easy to photograph them undisturbed when there are 300 kg parents lying around everywhere.
Grey Seal (Halichoerus grypus) pupping season is generally between September and December. Unfortunately not all the young make it to the new year. But it is an opportunity to get a closer look at this one's beautiful rear flippers 😍
County Clare, Ireland.
As well as abandoned places, I also love to photograph cute #seals. I have loads of photos just sitting on my hard drive, but I have unleashed them upon the world. Look into their eyes, and succumb to their cute charms.
My portfolio of all things "sealy" is now live on my website for you to enjoy - /www.obsidianurbexphotography.com/portfolio/i-love-seals/
When I first heard the grey seals, it was in dense fog on a rugged ocean coast & we couldn't see what was making the eerie sound.
Nova Scotia is rich with ghost stories. Some say it's because of the cultures that settled here, some say it's because it's the oldest of the European settlements, so more opportunity for ghosts. I can imagine how hearing these sounds could contribute to the lore.
