#Garden / #gardening experts, I need help. Or maybe just reassurance. I am a novice. I have come up with a plan to turn an empty rock bed on the side of my house into a garden bed for native wildflowers. I have gathered materials and instructions for doing it. My plan is to clear the rocks, cut away the underlying landscaping fabric, install rubber edging to separate the garden from the rocks, fill with soil, add seeds, cover with mulch, and let it do its thing over winter…

I got these Hallow's Eve hot pepper seeds from Trade Winds Fruit. I planted them in a little seed tray and more-or-less neglected them all summer.
Despite this, six of them have weathered my neglect and kept alive. I just transplanted them to proper pots and I'm gonna put them in the tropical hothouse for warmth and light. Fingers crossed.
We went out today #Sunday partly because it might be the last Sunday of fine #ukweather this year, a chance to walk in 🌞 however it was a bit too hot for walking for me. We went to #Sissinghurst which is called a #castle but isn't actually one. It's got a more complicated #history than I realised, but is well known as home of #vitasackvillewest so fits with our other #garden#art#literature walks this summer.
Chronicling my journey toward creating my first #flower garden (aka. “Big Dreams, Zero Skills”)
Day 2:
Much better start today. No unwelcome wasps or monster bugs today, and the weather was cool-warm with a lovely light breeze. The plan today was to install the garden edging, and fill in with soil. Unfortunately I found out that the garden center where I want to buy the soil is closed on Sundays so that will need to wait until next weekend.
Our lime tree, which has been dormant (blossoms but no fruit) for THREE YEARS has just come widdit and I am watching with utter delight as no fewer than TWLEVE limes are growing this year!
It’s my first year growing these passiflora vines and I’m so excited they have been blooming! These flowers are super interesting and there there’s just a lot going on here 😄. No passion fruit yet but I guess we’ll see! (Also thank you @cincynature for the plant bought through your plant sale last year! You all have the best plants! 😍) #Passiflora#garden#floralphotography
