#Republican Donald #Trump has launched his general election campaign not merely rewriting the #history of the #Jan6, 2021, Capitol attack [#insurrection], but positioning the #violent siege & its failed attempt to overturn the 2020 election as a cornerstone of his bid to return to the #WhiteHouse.
Having previously vowed to #pardon the rioters [#insurrectionists], he promised to help them “the first day we get into office.”
Initially relegated to a #fringe theory on the edges of the #Republican Party, the #RevisionistHistory of #Jan6, which Trump amplified during the early days of the #GOP primary campaign to rouse his most devoted voters, remains a rally centerpiece even as he must appeal more broadly to a general election audience.
This year is Anne Macintosh's (born of Clan Farquharson) 300th birthday, also known as Colonel Anne, who raised troops for the Jacobite cause in 1745. There is an excellent play about her at the Fringe next week. Reviews of the first night (yesterday) were very positive.
I saw this show at the Free Fringe in 2019 and absolutely loved it. Haven't watched this recorded version yet, but if you've ever struggled with identity, self worth, the absurd banality (or banal absurdity?) of existence, etc you might like it too
Free for all to read at my Patreon - @NarrelleMHarris and I review shows at the Melbourne Fringe Festival!
First up, reviews of Two Fingers Up (a rollicking comedy about Northern Ireland's stuffy sex education), and Lonely (a moving one-man drama of isolation and jigsaw puzzles).
In another round of Fringe shows, @NarrelleMHarris and I review a simulated Zoom call between two estranged brothers; an amazing physical theatre act with no words; and a wild show in which four people achieve a variety of tasks while running on treadmills.

It's been missing since 2019, but this year, the #EdinburghFringe welcomes back @BedlamTheatre with an eclectic and varied programme. I sat down with venue manager Marie Rimolsrønning on the #Fringe#podcast to find out what it takes to come back.
Heart warming story for all those taking shows to #Edinburgh#Fringe…but Lord Danny Finkelstein’s story about #Norwich from perspective of a Tory made me chuckle!
“I went to Norwich to give a speech and it took me 4hrs of travel. There were only 2 people there. One of them was the person who invited me. I asked the other person to join the cause I was there to support. He said he would, but it might interfere with the terms of his parole.”
✍️@Join_Zoe data today suggests around 46,686 active cases in Edinburgh - compared to around 17,700 ten days ago - an area in the UK heavily affected by the #SARSCoV2 virus currently - all other parts of Scotland in the 'not enough data' category.' @EdinburghLive_
🤔The #fringe
Looking vibrant #Edinburgh#fringe! 🤩 For some locals it is a time to escape from the crowds and shows for others it’s a chance to dive in and enjoy 😍🎭. If you haven’t been I would highly recommend a trip, from tiny tots 👶 up, there is something for everyone …. maybe not for our four legged friends … tends to be pretty busy 🐕🦺🐾
Season 04 Episode 11 of Fringe featured the meeting of the two Agent Astrid Farnsworth, one an autistic and the other neurotypical.
This episode aired on 2012-02-04 and entitled “Making Angels”.
The autistic Agent Astrid Farnsworth came from the “Amber World” (the parallel world), and the NT Astrid is from the “Prime World” (our world basically).
The character is, I would say “basic” as far as portrayal of an autistic person. Some would say it's a stereotype. But I like her nonetheless because it was not exaggerated, and the focus was not on her autism instead it was about her many skills.
And in this episode, we saw through her that autistic people are humans too. That we have our own struggles, we do cry and feel emotions (contrary to the claims that we lack it), and we just want to live like everyone else.
The autistic Astrid was introduced in season 2 (2009–2010). The actress, Jasika Nicole, was praised for her performance of both the neurotypical and the autistic Agent Astrid.
How about you, what do you think of her character? How was the performance (specifically with autistic Astrid)?

Oh, we'll definitely binge-watch a series and discuss it at length! I just don't know which one it will be yet: #StarTrek, #Fringe, or some other show from the #Fantasy/#SciFi genre.
There are some fun hidden details in Fringe. For instance, in the parallel universe of the series, when the Observers come out of the movie theatre after having watched Back to the Future, Eric Stoltz is listed as the main actor (episode 2x15).
Stoltz was in fact initially cast as Marty McFly, and they recorded several scenes with him before he was replaced by Michael J. Fox. Apparently, that didn't happen in the parallel universe 😁

#StargateSG1's "Moebius" introduced me to the idea of the Moebius strip, that is my answer to the "free will vs predetermination" debate in the story (TL;DR it's both → Schrödinger's Cat)
I'm watching #Lucy again (nth time) and I realised something I didn't before.
All our #scifi about man becoming very intelligent and/or “accessing more of our brain capability” leads to us losing our emotions and turn robotic. Like in #Fringe (remember Season 05).
Another example is in #StarGate, not humans exactly, but the Asgard hinted that they once were like humans, full of emotions. However, when they reached their current level of intelligence and brain processing, it all went away.
Even if no one has seen an episode or movie in the Star Trek franchise, they know Leonard Nimoy's most famous character. I swear. Can news outlets not do even the smallest modicum of proper research these days?
The ship (MS Ambition from Ambassador Cruiselines) for the Edinburgh Fringe hotel is NOT the same as the Tallink Victoria I ferry which housed Ukrainian refugees for a year.
