I had another meltdown in public today. 🤦‍♀️

Just doing my bit to lower the bar for what "normal" looks like in the outside world. 🤷‍♀️

So yay me! 🎉

And a song for all o' ya'll out there fucking up for the public good. 💖

☝️ interestingly, it's pretty much the same vibe.

Passengers are layered up for warmth in the early morning BART train. Heavy jackets and sweatshirts abound.

Several people wear face masks, which have the extra benefit of keeping your face warm.

Some have their eyes closed, others read.

A white woman with carefully braided hair is reading Daisy Jones and the Six.

The South Indian man next to me is on the phone, talks to his family.

Me, I'm wearing three black layers zipped up, reading Chris Carlson's "When Shells Crumble”

My evening BART train is emptier, maybe 25 people in the car.

Someone (a young man, maybe 20?) slouches back in his seat, wearing a bright green jacket and a polka dotted hood covering much of his face. He stares into the middle distance, phone-free.

A standing woman in a long black jacket has a surprisingly animated conversation with someone on the phone.

A man in slacks and Adidas sits near his electric bike, scrolling comfortably.

Me, I’m #PeopleWatching, listening to Marwa Loud.

I never appreciated until I had it how nice it is to live on an activated street. My husband is out of town and the house felt a bit quiet, so I ate lunch on the front porch and enjoyed some lite #PeopleWatching and the neighborhood vibes.

It feels good to be in proximity to a community. If loneliness is an epidemic in this country, how much could be addressed by simple #WalkableStreets?
