Even if no one has seen an episode or movie in the Star Trek franchise, they know Leonard Nimoy's most famous character. It's the second in command of the USS Enterprise with the pointed ears and the Vulcan salute that is part of pop culture. Nimoy's sci-fi pedigree within his career goes beyond Spock. One of his best sci-fi...
I swear. Can news outlets not do even the smallest modicum of proper research these days?
The ship (MS Ambition from Ambassador Cruiselines) for the Edinburgh Fringe hotel is NOT the same as the Tallink Victoria I ferry which housed Ukrainian refugees for a year.
#Republican Donald #Trump has launched his general election campaign not merely rewriting the #history of the #Jan6, 2021, Capitol attack [#insurrection], but positioning the #violent siege & its failed attempt to overturn the 2020 election as a cornerstone of his bid to return to the #WhiteHouse.
Having previously vowed to #pardon the rioters [#insurrectionists], he promised to help them “the first day we get into office.”
Initially relegated to a #fringe theory on the edges of the #Republican Party, the #RevisionistHistory of #Jan6, which Trump amplified during the early days of the #GOP primary campaign to rouse his most devoted voters, remains a rally centerpiece even as he must appeal more broadly to a general election audience.
I'm watching #Lucy again (nth time) and I realised something I didn't before.
All our #scifi about man becoming very intelligent and/or “accessing more of our brain capability” leads to us losing our emotions and turn robotic. Like in #Fringe (remember Season 05).
Another example is in #StarGate, not humans exactly, but the Asgard hinted that they once were like humans, full of emotions. However, when they reached their current level of intelligence and brain processing, it all went away.
I saw this show at the Free Fringe in 2019 and absolutely loved it. Haven't watched this recorded version yet, but if you've ever struggled with identity, self worth, the absurd banality (or banal absurdity?) of existence, etc you might like it too
#WordWeavers NOV-22 Did any particular books, movies or games influence your story?
#StargateSG1's "Moebius" introduced me to the idea of the Moebius strip, that is my answer to the "free will vs predetermination" debate in the story (TL;DR it's both → Schrödinger's Cat)
In another round of Fringe shows, @NarrelleMHarris and I review a simulated Zoom call between two estranged brothers; an amazing physical theatre act with no words; and a wild show in which four people achieve a variety of tasks while running on treadmills.

#WordWeavers OCT-10 Secondary character POV: You can spend a whole day with the MC. What will you do?
Oh, we'll definitely binge-watch a series and discuss it at length! I just don't know which one it will be yet: #StarTrek, #Fringe, or some other show from the #Fantasy/#SciFi genre.
Netanyahu says #Israel ‘at war’ after #Hamas attack; air force kills nearly 200 in #Gaza air strikes
Israeli PM Benjamin #Netanyahu said “we are at war, & we will win it” Saturday after Hamas launched an assault & took captives following the 50th anniversary of the start of the #1973YomKippurWar.
Israel’s ambassador to the #UnitedStates, Michael Herzog, hailed the call between #Biden & #Netanyahu & expressed confidence that the WH & #Congress would be able to provide any needed support to #Israel.
“Right now we are assessing the situation, assessing our needs, &, to the extent that we will need some support, we will not hesitate to ask for it,” he said.
The #House is operating w/o a #speaker after #fringe#RightWing#extremists ousted #McCarthy bringing the chamber to a standstill.
That was a laugh - @NarrelleMHarris and I just saw the latest instalment of Sammy J's 50 Year Show (he does just one show every five years, with reappearances by previous cast members). Fun concept. Join us for the next one in 2028...
Free for all to read at my Patreon - @NarrelleMHarris and I review shows at the Melbourne Fringe Festival!
First up, reviews of Two Fingers Up (a rollicking comedy about Northern Ireland's stuffy sex education), and Lonely (a moving one-man drama of isolation and jigsaw puzzles).
I know this music … there is always something spooky about walking through a corn field. I blame Fringe and the X-Files for this! Still there should be a cache at the end of this footpath. Assuming if I get there and don’t get dragged into the Earth! #geocaching#geocache#fringe#xfiles
I watched the final two episodes of #Fringe today. Not the best ending, but a fitting one for the series, and solidifies my sales pitch: "What if The X-Files, but the overarching plot was actually worthwhile."
Watched #TheSopranos at work earlier this year. It's as great as everyone says it is, and I love the ending.
Now we're watching #BreakingBad at work. Eager for the conclusion—mostly so we can move on to something that's good!🫠 #Television
