I have finally departed the #emfcamp site, after twelve days of build-up, festival, and teardown (though teardown continues with the amazing people who can keep going).
I'm exhausted physically but mentally energised, and already missing all my friends but also looking forward to 2026. I'd say I'm heading home, but in many ways I am leaving home, and I will be back there with everyone in two years' time.
Here is the recording of my #techno#dj set at Null Sector, #emf2024 Thanks to all that came! And if you missed it, make sure to check it out if you are into Techno :)
Another new #fediverse account to follow! If you built a TinyGS 🛰️ satellite 📡 ground station at #emfcamp#emf2024 (I did!), the project now has a presence on Mastodon -> @tinygs
The work features 132 spatially located LEDs, driven by 2x #Pimoroni Plasma Stick 2040W. They talk to a server, which supplies a function to set R,G,B each frame.
Is it the first demo to run on a tent? (probably not; the #demoscene folks are an inventive crowd 😄).
Enjoy!
Very exciting that @drlucyrogers is here in the #fediverse! Let's welcome her! Great talk at #emfcamp about the science and wonders of looking up, so hoping to see that video available before too long 🎉
Another #emfcamp acquisition - this is the Zax Z80 ICE I bought from @rc2014. And it works! Version 2.1 ROMs, which I don't see dumped anywhere. That'll be happening shortly.
My post #EMFCamp lie-in was spent hacking on #LastCallBBS (which I bought after enjoying it in EMF's excellent Arcade) and creating a new Bulletin Board to dial into…
Tear down is kind of like that, except it’s not all going to one place, some is time dependent, the truck’s turned up too early, and now it’s started raining. Also everything is muddy, can only be transported with a particular combo of people and vehicles, or has a visiting member of the local wildlife. HQ has a pigeon.
If you have any positive vibes for the tear down crew, leave them here and we’ll make sure they’re passed on this evening when they get a chance to read them.
@info Thank you tear down crew! A tough job and a tough time to do it too! We all appreciate what you are doing, an essential part of #emfcamp this year and next year. ✨
I recently went to EMF Camp (which is Glastonbury for geeks - lots of random electronics, talks, art, and camping). Naturally, I took along my Infrared camera and pointed it at interesting things! First up… sewage! Festivals often have big tanks to take away human effluence. But how can you, a normal human, tell how […]
I had a blast DJ'ing at #emfcamp on Sunday night. Went very well considering it was my first time doing it in person instead of on the internet.
@jtruk caught this absolutely incredible slow motion footage during it, which might be my favourite EMF shot of all time. Charles, Rob, and Dimitri really nailed the effect timings. phenomenal.
Looking back on #emfcamp, I don't know if anyone else noticed, but as far as I could see there were no LLM or GenAI demos, and I didn't have any conversations about AI/ML with anyone.
Actually, I take it back, there was a really cool video GenAI in the Null Sector. But still...
