About 109 billion people have lived & died. Each grain of sand represents 10 million.
This stunning data visualization of human life by Max Roser was published in 2022.
Today there would be 805 green grains representing 8.05 billion people living on Earth. #science#art
days 39-40 of my #100DaysChallenge of drawing animals. I continued working on some watercolors and more intentionally to be finished stuff - with the result that except for the elephants that were actually finished at this point, the rest is still languishing in my room in the same state like, 2 weeks or so later. Gah. I hope I'll have the energy to actually finish them this week!
It's the weekend so let's all comment below with our weekend plans and what we're all going to do.
For me, I'll be having lunch with my cousin and her two daughters and my wife. My cousin and I haven't seen each other since Thanksgiving, so that will be nice.
The rest of the day will likely just be relaxing and laying on the new couch to catch up on some TV shows we're behind on.
I absolutely adore the whimsical #art of 3D sidewalk chalk artist David Zinn. https://zinnart.com
Zinn creates delightful “works of ephemeral pareidolic anamorphosis” inspired by weeds, sewer covers, traffic cones & nearly everything he encounters around his Ann Arbor community.

A portrait of my stylish, adventurous and outspoken friend @msquebanh that I just finished. Full piece is square. This is a narrow crop.
I love painting strong women. They inspire me. I love how this turned out.

At the instigation of @jessica and other trans and queer siblings, my ADHD has compelled me to assemble a basic guide or primer on LGBTQ+ Media, Literature, and Culture for those getting their footing in our community. This is not authoritative, this just one rando queer trans gal's perspective on the keys to queer culture and art.
This will be very loosely organized and potentially chaotic...do not be afraid, my brain is just weird. Also, once the whole thread is up, feel free to add your own notes on key artists, media, moments, and more.
I'll start off my first -real- post with, well, me!
This is the third ref sheet I've gotten for myself, back in 2020 and made by Isvoc over at http://isvoc-art.com/. The previous one lasted 6 years, and really the only reason I got the new one was to clarify a few things; that and Isvoc was one of my first choices originally so I did it now that i could!
Overall I guess you could say my look dates back to at least 2006, with just tweaks where necessary.
