A little advice? Especially folks who work at a bank?
Out on my walk I found a check in the grass. Filled out for a decent amount, not endorsed on the back. It was from out of state, so I couldn't return it directly to a house in the neighborhood.
A branch of the bank on the check was near my walk though, so I took it to that branch and gave it to a teller.
I couldn't think of any other solution that wouldn't be weird or creepy.
Is there some other way to handle that? Should I have mailed it to the person who wrote the check?
Free #advice of the day; don't walk away from the furnace when heating milk. It will overflow, creating a mess. Second free advice of the day; don't grab the metal part of your furnace when it happens. Especially if you're diabetic and don't immediately feel the pain that causes.
People are ridiculing this bit of advice volunteered by one privileged feminist, but TBH she's right; if you want to "transform your life" it needs to be something big and upwardly mobile like this, that you can get into incrementally. Anything else is a waste of your time.
Here is a question for all the community composters out there:
Can we compost raw eggs?
What are the risks and/or benefits involved?
We have covered these ones over with fine wood shavings to soak up the moisture and to prevent any smell getting out. Can't recall seeing "raw eggs" on anyone's compost input lists before now though!
I'm updating my workflow for 2024, thinking of going full #R + #quarto + #github, but i need something for easy collab with non-R people (revisions, comments, etc.). Suggestions? 🤔 #advice#research#openscience
If you use a free or paid password keeper, can you advise which one? I need it simple, like a child would! Google keeps track of some for me, but somehow after updates, they need to be reset.
I know you can get something that auto generates them?
Saw this on a Costco ad. Word of advice: DO NOT BUY laptops from this particular company. We did two years ago, and the one we have will not accept third party battery replacements (will not power up the machine with a third party battery), and the company DOES NOT sell replacement batteries. Yes, this is the same one with draconian printer cartridge restrictions. #shopping#advice#laptops
PR tip for the day: if you are a candidate for public office (heck, if you are anyone), do not leave your phone's microphone on while on a live chat, when you are taking a pee #pr#advice
I need some help. My disability is making it extremely difficult to maintain my coding career. I'm seriously considering transitioning out of it. I enjoy talking to people and helping them through the problems they're working on, I'm thinking of doing mentoring/coaching/teaching, etc. I enjoy seeing others succeed, and like helping, but I have no idea how to make that into a living. Advice appreciated. Boost for reach.
Advice to my friend who is a new DM. Maybe there is someone on mastodon who could hear it too. Play fearlessly. Run every style of play, use every half baked plot hook, change tone and style as often as you can. Abandon what isn't working without ceremony. Now is the time to figure out what you like. You have the rest of your life to get good at it.
I'll be traveling to the US and Canada in summer 2024 for 2 months, but I will not be on "vacation" from work. I need a solid wifi connection wherever I go.
We'll be visiting some fairly remote areas where cell coverage is spotty at best (the Kootenays, rural Ontario, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan). How in the world can I guarantee a wifi connection in my travels?
Does anyone have #advice on what tire chains to get for a 2013 Audi A4 Quattro? The tires are 245/40 R18. The manual says it only needs front chains and it needs SAE type S.
This Audi has fancy rims I don't want to screw up. And I don't want to screw up the car in general.
I need the chains to get my partner's car to my parents' house this winter. I give it a 40% chance I actually need the chains.
