Thinking about Mom #today. She died unexpectedly in Sept 20 in a rehab facility and hadn’t had direct contact with us for a while. Retired teacher, cross-stitcher, gardener. Proud of her 4 boys, married fathers, college grads, 2 of us US Army officers with advanced degrees. She could really brag on us. She loved her 10 grand babies and reveled in doting on them. She flew to TX to help us when my wife went blind 2 wks after our son was born. Some days it hits me out of the blue. Miss you Mom. 💔
I am having a very good morning #today after a great evening last night. Something in my equanimity practice clicked last night. The result felt great. I am still figuring out how, what, and if my skills have grown enough to intentional duplicate it. Regardless the experience is encouraging me in my practices.

My grandboss officially started the holiday weekend early for us #today. A few hours ago. Been enjoying the afternoon too much to post. Hope you all have been doing similar.
Today's weather was perfect for my early-morning walk: perfect tshirt and jeans temperature, sunny, not as humid as it's been. Now I'm home again and getting ready to write and see how far I can get today.
But first, there's coffee-sipping and scrolling and saying hello to all you people out there in the fediverse.
Today, I relax to the max. Due to my lack of time awareness while playing Cyberpunk 2077, I didn't sleep much. I lazed around, took a nap, and will now eat dinner before playing more Cyberpunk 2077! This time, I will go to bed at a reasonable hour and be well rested for a busier tomorrow.
Another day #today where my growing equanimity really helped me. This stage of my practice is still young, I will get to layering in benevolence soon enough. Judging from the reactions to my facial expression throughout the day, hopefully sooner rather than later.
I promise this experience is actually less distressing for me than it appears, either in my posts or in person. The feelings are the same as they've always been, how I experience and respond to them is changing. #zen#zazen#buddhism
My #friend took me for a #tour in #Helsinki#today! We hopped on the Hop on, Hop off #bus from Senaatintori and took a 1.5 hour guided tour. I woke with anxiety #today. I often do and am learning how better to deal with it. I have to lead a meeting with my new team later this morning. Could be simple social anxiety but may be connected with other concerns about being a new employee.
I've tapped into my equanimity and deployed some tools. I am good, if not happy or excited. At all events, I will feel better after the meeting. And hopefully have another experience to help tame that specific anxiety.
