Taken in 2022, my mood photo (very Harry Potterish) was taken on the platform of the pretty-much-deserted Lealholm station on the North Yorks Moors line that terminates at Whitby. I had done a walk of nearly 10 miles and stopped at a bench seat to open a flask of coffee and munch on a cheese bap (bread roll or bread bun, depending on your origin). Perfect day for trekking.
A bit of dual-gauge action at South Beach, South Fremantle. The inner rails are the usual narrow gauge used in Western Australia, 1,067mm (3' 6"); while the outer rails are standard gauge, 1,435mm (4" 8.5") apart. Note the sand which has drifted up from the beach!
It's interesting how intertwined the freight line and tourist locations are in Fremantle. Here's a freight train passing just after I stepped across a pedestrian level-crossing to stroll to the Gage Roads brewery on the harbour.
The graceful interior geometric architecture at London's King Cross Railway Station is certainly an arresting sight, especially after dark. The station is at the southern end of the East Coast Mainline that connects London with Edinburgh's Waverly Station.

Les merveilleux albums de #plans sont conservés aux #Archives du département du #Rhône et de la #Métropole de Lyon, où j'ai eu la chance de les étudier lors de la #rénovation du palais.

Leadhills Station, on the Leadhills & Wanlockhead Railway in South Lanarkshire. Britain's highest adhesion railway reaches a height of 1,500ft at its Wanlockhead end. A railway was built here in 1900 and this one has run since 1988. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/leadhills/railway/index.html
I do enjoy watching trains travelling through dark tunnels & the art that they create. The paint palette is mainly 2 colours. The bright colour white/blue from the train's headlights, & the red from the back.
However, there is some good news, as KTMB will provide 6 additional #ETS services for Chinese New Year & school holiday, 4 for #KLSentral ↔ Ipoh and 2 for KL Sentral ↔ Padang Besar
A #photo of the roof of #London#Paddington station at night, taken from the #Hilton hotel, along with a similar photo taken the morning after. I was able to choose my room so that I had good view of the station roof. #photography#railway
In 1880-1882, an attempt was made to dig a railway tunnel from Kent to Calais.
Using an air-powered boring machine, the Submarine Continental Railway Company and its French partner dug 3.5km under the English Channel before British politics intervened and stopped the project.
Excited to share my article on the early history of the Channel Tunnel in the Public Domain Review. It's got pictures and everything.
