Y'know, after all that engine talk I'm also thinking about revisiting #godot again to try porting one of my smaller projects.
This went poorly in my first attempt but it was my first time using the engine. This time I've finished a practice project which means I have a better general idea of how to keep a project nicer to work with.
TLDR of how: Scenes. Lots of scenes
I'm probably also going to use GDScript to start since it did not play nicely with VSCode or Visual Studio for me
Thinkin' about playing with WebGPU at some point. Could be a fun little #gamedev side project.
Last time I was playing with render states, vertex buffers etc directly was way back when XNA was a thing. Not sure what language I'd use to work with it at this time though.
And for the record, people have asked if this is a hint about what we're working on. Nope. Like you, we enjoy playing classic games & we stream to share that joy. These events are not secret messages, they're just us sharing some fun!
For about a week I've been working on a new cape shield ability (and the Spider Mech laser attack you see in the video) and I am SO CLOSE to having everything working correctly! 😁🎉
I took advice from reddit/twitter to improve the ability as best I could. 😁
I have several #interactiveFiction#parser#textAdventure#games works in progress, that I'm in various stages of developing. Suddenly had great idea last night for one of them, reframing the opening and overall structure. Making frantic notes now before I totally forget it all. Typing into comments in my #Inform7 source code. Feeling invigorated. Hoping that my #neuro#illness allows me enough good time to complete this #game and the others satisfactorily. #IndieGames#GameDev#creativeWriting
So I've now got another #gamedev side project I could be working on at some point. I have been low-key thinking about making a game engine for myself again so that's an option.
If I do port one of my #gamedev projects to #godot it will most likely be Stop THEM
This is because it's a very simple game but has just enough small detail features that it should let me get a real feel for the engine in 2D games. If I like it enough I may take the time to get things working with C# so I can more port more complex projects.
So I wanted to make a movie this time, to make it simple for once...but I couldn't help myself and started sketching puzzles for it xD Probably inspired by Reboot Develop and all the motivation from the lovely people I met there <3 Contemplating if I can do both, from the same assets. #indiedev#gamedev
