How backend developers, like myself, see software development.

After working for scores of clients over my career as a consultant sorting out software issues, I know that the frontend is often as bad as the backend, but no one wants to admit it because the end result looks pretty.

A-ha!

Just a quick (re-)post to share some things I tend to on the internet:

I curate a sporadic #DesignSystems related links newsletter:
https://news.design.systems

I also update a Github 'Awesome' list on things related to #DesignTokens:
https://github.com/sturobson/Awesome-Design-Tokens

I’ve also started a new email newsletter on Design Systems and #FrontEnd Architecture:
https://buttondown.email/sturobson

And I try and keep this .xml file of all the RSS feeds I subscribe to updated:

Cześć, jestem Kuba. Jestem frontend deweloperem. Głównie sci-fi i fantasy, czasem jakiś reportaż, ten ostatni głównie książkowo.

A, no i rośliny domowe też lubię uprawiać.

Monaspace: a superfamily of fonts for coding, that comes with 5 fonts, 3 variable axes (640k styles in total) and a bunch of very nice code ligatures. That’s, hot. Yup. (by Github Next and Lettermatic)

This is potentially cool for #frontend developers. It's a site that allows you to build and customize #CSS only loaders.

Recently I look at every I am working on or have worked on and I ask myself: did this really need to be built in a reactive framework? Or could it just be the server sending some ? I see the latter as a better option more and more. And every time I hit a papercut with reactivity, or massive build toolchains, or bad I get a little closer.

Exciting news for Drupal theming! 🎉 The new component-based approach has arrived in Drupal core, giving everyone better theming options. It will be an out-of-the-box feature starting with Drupal 10.1.0. Find out more about it here: https://www.lullabot.com/articles/getting-single-directory-components-drupal-core #drupal #frontend

Hello #accessibility community, I have a question regarding #cms user interfaces. I may have gotten the gig to implement a website with strong #a11y focus, tech stack of my choice.

I'm gonna go with @astro and want to implement a CMS that is as accessible as possible. Do you have any experience with the following platforms?

I will do my own testing, but still curious. 🤗
